Aweful experience 7/13/2009

My wife and I went there looking for the Julias we knew from wallingford - simple healthy ingredients. Instead, it was more attitude than quality. More fancy than we expected. And, our meals were not good. And the atmosphere was surprisingly formal. The worst part for us - we told the waitress we had a son with allergies to egg, dairy, and nut. After realizing there was nothing on the menu he could have, we settled on the kids burger. Turns out they put egg in it! The waitress/hostess didn't even know. What a scare! Luckily, I tasted it when I saw there were onions in it. Who would put onions and eggs in a kids burger? I was shocked. We left. This one is really uncomfortable in many ways. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Pros: Nice looking deck. Cons: Too many to list. more

Yep 11/9/2008

I like to go up to Queen Anne on a weekly basis and take a good long hill walk. I've always walked past Julia's and been curious about the restaurant, how the food is, etc. Today was the first day that my husband and I visited. I loved the place! We walked in, and the environment was cozy, down-to-earth and nicely decorated. The service was great, and the food was even better. I had the tofu breakfast, and was genuinely impressed with the sauce that they served on/in the tofu and mushrooms. The potatoes were great, and once again...the service was super friendly and down to earth. I would definitely go back, and thank you Julia's for being great at what you do. Pros: Food, Client Relations, Ambience, Value, Location Cons: None more

Great food and Wonderful decor 9/21/2008

Recently had dinner at Juilas on Queen Anne and everything was great! The service we recieved was wonderful and we were treated vary kind by the server and the decor of this old house is amazing! It took a lot of thought into this house/restaurant. I highly reccomend it for a romantic evening out! Pros: Small quaint and quiet with free parking Cons: patience is a virtue this is not a turn and burn restaurant more

Great Service, Enchanting, Makes You Feel At Home! 9/18/2008

This Juli'as smashes all other Julias out of the competition. Meatloaf made just like momma used to make, well almost, but darn good! The Blackberry Pork Chop is unforgetable. Julia's is a great queen anne addition to the small community here. Kid friendly too...which is very important and very reasonable rates! Pros: They are wheel chaie accessable more

Amazing decor, great service, and a wonderful server! 9/16/2008

My wife and I ate at the new julias on queen anne yesterday and had a wonderful dining experience. We went for dinner and everything was more than expected! The quality of the meal was perfect and the service was much more than what we had anticipated. I think this is the most romantic julias to date since we have dined at three of the locations. I highly recommend this location to anyone with the hopes of a great meal for a great value! The server was extremely nice and took us on a tour of this old house which includes a luxurious wine room for private dining. Pros: Outside Patio Cons: Can't think of anything more

very nice patio 9/1/2008

We have been regulars at Julia's of Wallingford for years, so we tried their new location on Queen Anne. On a sunny weekday morning we were seated on their front patio, what a lovely corner this is, lots of plants, very pretty planters surrounded the outside tables. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, even so the table next to us had two fussy kids with their parents, she seemed to handle their request graciously. Our food was just as tasty as we know it from their Wallingford store. The patio filled up quickly after we arrived. We will try this location for dinner next. more

Best on Queen Anne- Must try! 1/15/2008

I went to Julias for the first time on a first date. We walked in on a Friday night, and were seated very quickly without the attitude you get from other restaurants "you DONT HAVE A RESERVATION????" Needless to say, both of us were a bit nervous about the date, and received just the right amount of attention from the waitress - not too much, not too little. We both had the halibut baked in parchment paper, and it was excellent! We've since been back for happy hour - and it was fantastic! Definitely on our Favorite Restaurant list. You should definitely try it! Pros: Great food, great service Cons: none! more

Want this place to thrive 12/20/2007

I am writing this with the hope the owners get Julia's together. I want it to work, because I live a block away and like to frequent Queen Anne restaurants. I have been there twice. Both times the service was slow, and our order was not filled properly. The food was average. We eat dinner out twice a week on Queen Anne, mostly at Betty, and my husband eats at the Paragon at least 4 days a week for lunch. We are loyal diners who tip well. Please fix the problems at Julia's. Our neighborhood will be thrilled to have you. more

Too many good places to waste time/money at Julias's on QA 10/19/2007

Just recently we went to Julia's for our 2nd try. A few months ago we had breakfast there, and while the breakfast was pretty good, the wait was rough and the service was sub-par (2 tables who ordered after us were served before us, and we waited at least 15minutes for our check after the able was cleared.) But the dinner service we just experienced just recently was the last straw. Our waiter was borderline condescending right away. We dined with our VERY well-behaved infant, and we were given looks of disapproval, even though it was merely 5pm and there were hardly any other diners in the restaurant at the time. Throughout the meal, we never saw our waiter until it was time for the check. I can't make stuff like this up, and I have no reason to exaggerate. It's very important to note that we are very reasonable and frequent diners that have never left less than a 15% tip no matter how bad the service. Meaning: the most fair diners in Queen Anne are telling you this place has poor service. Otherwise, the food was ok - but a little bit expensive for the quality received. Given the abundant options of fine restaurants with great staff on QA, I really don't expect this Julia's to be around much longer. Pros: Appetizers, Accomodating Host Cons: Service more

Amazing Atmosphere! 10/13/2007

On friday evening a friend and I recently dined at the new Julias on queen anne, what a great suprise! A refreshing twist to the slumping experience ive had in the past at the other locations. The Food was great, timing was ok, but the atmosphere was most memorable! After dinner we were graciously taken on tour of the restaurant by a handsome young gentleman. The Wine room I must say is DYNOMITE!!!! I definately will be bringing my friends back to this hidden treasure! Pros: We made a reservation so we didnt have to wait! Cons: Tables are closely put together so conversation has to be quiet. more

Very fast and good breakfast 10/10/2007

WE went to the new Julia's last weekend with my family, with two little children. The wait was short and we had a nice table by the window. Our kids enjoyed the fun kids menu and crayons, and our coffee and hot coco came within minutes after we ordered. The food came quickly as well. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Our kids loved the mickey shaped pancakes. The staff was friendly and very good with our kids. We checked out their dinner menu which looked very good, our waitress insured us to bring the kids for dinner as well, which is good to know. We will be back. more

Disappointed 8/25/2007

I used to go to really enjoy going to Julia's in Ballard and Wallingford. It's been years since I've been (obviously, since the Ballard location has long-since closed), so when I moved back to Seattle and a location opened in my neighborhood, I was excited to try it. We got right in for lunch, but it was really loud, and they were playing really awful Kenny G-ish music at a high volume. The food arrived promptly, and our server was uber-friendly (the others were not so much), but the food wasn't great. We had the hummus plate and a sandwich, and had to remind our server that the hummus came with pita bread, and the sandwich was suppose to come with french fries. The hummus was mealy and bland. The tsatsiki was tasty but drippy. And because it was merely "dribbled" over spinach, it was hard to actually get to the VERY MINIMAL amount of it. The sandwich was tasty enough, but the fries were overly salty. It was hard to converse over the sound of the other diners, which I don't mind so much, but being drowned out by the cheesy awful music made it a pretty unenjoyable experience. If the food had been worth it I might attempt to go again -- on the patio -- but it wasn't. more

Julia's on Queen Anne 8/10/2007

I have been to Julia's on Queen Anne three times and the wait has been interminable. The first time they had just opened and I excused the hour wait between order being taken and food received. The second time I let it go again. The third time we waited over an hour and almost left. This is inexcusable. I won't be going back any time soon. more

wonderful dinner 8/2/2007

After going to Wallingford, and Broadway for years it was time for us to try the newest Julia's location on Queen Anne. We came here for dinner, it was a sunny warm evening and we got a table on the patio, which we enjoyed very much. The menu had a very interesting design and a good selection. Our server Kevin was a very knowledgeable server and guided us through the menu, helped us with our selection and got us a great bottle of wine. The food was amazing, a notch better than the other Julia's locations. We also got to see the inside, which was tastefully decorated and a lot of charm brought back to this old Victorian style house. more

Embarrassing Experience 7/4/2007

This is the first time I have ever written a review because I typically believe that you should give people/restaurants the benefit of the doubt. I am very familiar with Julia's in Wallingford but since I live on Q.A. I was excited to try the new restaurant on the hill. My experience today at Julia's on Q.A. was horrible it was a waste of my time and money. I brought a good friend from out of town with me...she had suggested on the 5-Spot and I insisted on Julia's. When we sat down my friend realized that her silverware was dirty....the spoon still had wet coffee resting in it. We sat for a good 10 minutes before our waiter even acknowleged that we had sat down and then we waited another 10 minutes before he came back to take our order. We had to ask for everything ie: more water, creme for our coffee etc... Our waiter also began to place food before us that he realized belonged to the two ladies next to us. When our food finally arrived...all of it was cold and my friends toast was black. From the moment we sat down it was a train wreck. I was uncomfortable and uneasy the entire time and extremely embarrassed that I had suggested and insisted Julia's on Queen Anne as a great place to get breakfast. I would have gotten better food and an overall experience at a Cracker Barrel. more
