Juan Colorado's

It is hard to say something different when reviewing Mexican food because i look for pretty much the same things: Are the chips good? Yes. Is the salsa good.? Yes. This restaurant has quite a bit of seating and I like the atmosphere better than some. It helps to enjoy an ethnic dish if you can imagine you are there and this one works. The shredded beef is good and the spices are a little different but I like them. Of course they have plenty of chicken dishes too. This is a pretty good place. more

Juan Colorado's is a quaint, little Mexican restaurant on the corner of 10th and TV Highway in Hillsboro. It is located behind Izzys off the main street. Admittedly, I was reluctant to try it, as the outside did not look very appealing. Finally, lured in by the smell of warm tortillas during a fall commute, I can honestly say that I am happy I ventured in. Juan Colorado's has a huge menu offering a variety of Mexican foods. There are also some items for those of you who prefer to keep it all American. My husband will only eat cheeseburgers at a restaurant and fortunately Juan Colorado's has some great ones, he tells me. The lunch values are pretty good ranging from 6-9 dollars a plate (and the plates are big). Dinners are a bit pricier but the food is warm and yummy and you don't leave hungry. The never ending tortilla chips and salsa are also a plus. This is definitely not a place you want to go if you are watching your weight. more

Juan’s is a family favorite in our family. Before we had children we went to juan’s on a weekly basis. The servings are plentiful and the prices can’t be beat. My only complaint is about the service. They are not the greatest at getting you what you want. We even had a waiter add a tip to our bill-for a party of two- because he didn’t think we were going to tip him. Kind of a strange practice in my opinion. But the food is great, so it’s worth a visit. Also try some tortillas to go to liven up a homecooked meal. more
