Joy of Soy is located in the back of the North Market downtown, and there is large amount to see & smell in that small corner. Gail, the proprietor is very friendly and helpful in explaining the scents in her candles. And she'll most likely tell you about the inspiration behind them, too. She really likes her co-workers/friends to come up with new scents to sell, so there are some fun stories. There's more than just candles though- it's all about soy. Candles just happen to be a big draw here.
Some selling points for soy candles:
-They burn pretty evenly, so you don't have much wasted candle at the end.
-The smell carries well through a room (like the Candle Factory in the Poconos, these aren't wimpy candles)
-After you burn it for awhile, you can blow the candle out (or not) and dip your fingers in the melted soy... it's better than cuticle oil!
If that hasn't convinced you, the candle scents include Flirt, Pomegranate, Creme Brulee, Pillow Talk, Nag Champa, Green Tea, and PearNilla. They'll even do custom orders for you!
