I'd Rather Go to Barnes and Noble 5/3/2010

I used to think this was a nice bookstore. It was very large, pretty, and fairly neat. Unfortunately appearances are deceiving. The staff are rude and arrogant. I can't stand to be in there now because of the way the staff act. Joseph Beth is also horribly overpriced. I guess everyone else has noticed this as well because they had to move to a smaller location early this year. more

Not a Nice place to Shop 12/30/2009

I work nearby so I come here occasionally in a pinch, although I try to avoid it. The store looks nice, but the people who work there (including the manager Chris) give off a false pleasantness that quickly crumbles to show their rudeness when you have a problem. I've asked to get books special ordered on multiple occasions that take 2-3 weeks to get. Their gift items are overpriced and even their "bargain books" generally look beat up and used. Go to Barnes & Noble or Borders for better service and a better selection. more

Beth Joseph carries Very Bradley Merchandise 12/28/2006

I find Beth Joseph Bookseller to be a very friendly and relaxing store to browse through. I especially like that they carry a large line of Vera Bradley merchandise at mark-down prices. Also, it is much easier to park on the South Side of Pittsburgh than at large book stores in shopping centers. Mary Ann more

Independent bookstore meets yuppie 8/16/2005

Beth Joseph claims to be an independent bookstore. I guess it thinks that because it’s not a publicly traded company it can make that claim. This bookstore is fancier than any Barnes and Noble I’ve been in. Books are generally sold at retail price. The Caribou Coffee next door is accessible from within Beth Joseph, though you have to pay for your books first. There is very little casual seating in the store. There is a big selection of books and magazines here, though better deals can be found online if you’re willing to wait for delivery. more
