My husband and I decided to get a futon since it could double as a guest bed. We had been to John Paras in West Valley before and really liked the prices. We bought a nice looking futon there... the mattress had springs for added comfort, and the when folded up like a couch, it looked really nice since the arms are a dark wood color and have magazine holders on the sides.
We bought this in February of 2011. So only a few months ago. In the beginning of April, we noticed the back was starting to bend back. It was sitting up straight like it should have been. We had a service guy come over and take a look at it, and he said it looks like someone had flipped back in it. My husband and I are the only two people living here and we hadnt had guests since we got it. Nobody flipped over in it. But he said it bendings bars are not covered under warranty and we would need to buy one.
We flipped the back over and it sat upright for a few more days before falling back again. I ordered the the back the same day he came, first week of April, and it still has not arrived. I called again this morning and he told me that a shipment could take several weeks, they do not carry the parts in store, and ""you get what you pay for"". He was telling me that since the couch is not that high priced, it is cheap materials. In total I spent over $400 for this futon. I expect it to last more than 3 months.
Mike was rude. He did not let me finish any of my sentences, continued to cut me off... I am the customer. I was calling about the back and questions on the warranty. Of course I am going to be upset when we spend money we dont have and end up with a piece of crap. But he had no right to treat me so poorly, which only fueled my anger.
but ""you get what you pay for"". No new back. terrible service. and as he flat out told me ""cheap materials."" If you buy furniture here, in the long run you end up spending even more. So my advice is dont do go with John Paras. Ass holes.
