I've been to Jetset a couple of times and I'll say I like it. Not my favorite place to go, but every once in a while it's fun to get dressed up and have a drink. It's pretty bus...

Mostly Great! 6/27/2007

I like the owner and his other establishments in town. The ambience here is great. The people are usually pretty. I like this bar a lot and definitely think it is one of the best in town. Even so, there is one bartender who just is not worthwhile, to communicate it kindly! He's rude, pretentious and not attractive. He looks at everyone with such contempt. I just hope the owner can figure this out and drop that attitude by the wayside! Pros: Ambience, crowd Cons: One Bartender, tends to be an "early" bar more

Good modern gay bar 12/11/2006

This is a sleek place with cute guys. It's New York style meets MPLS attitude and the result is quite enjoyable. No drag queens/karaoke/3 for 1/strong drinks, true, but aren't there enough places like that in the Cities? Jet Set is a nice addition to what's already out there and it is good at what it is. more

New Yorker loves JetSet 9/7/2006

As a former MPLS resident, I only wish this place was in business when I lived there. True, it's not for everyone. But since a large majority seems to prefer the tacky chaos of the Gay 90s or Saloon, I'm happy that JetSet provides a refuge for me whenever I'm in town. Some reviewers on here complain that JetSet is boring, that there's no dancing, that it's "trying too hard" (?!) to be minimalist. (If it was trying too hard to be minimal, there wouldn't be anywhere to sit.) If you want a dance floor and/or a crazy, over-the-top gay night out, go to that kind of bar. Why does every place in town have to be the same? JetSet is perfect is you want to have a conversation, be in a pleasant atmosphere, and see/meet people you might not see on the tragic Saloon dance floor. Pros: Chic/simple/stylish ambience, off the beaten track, attractive crowd Cons: Not for everyone (but that's a Pro, if you ask me) more

a great place to start your night 7/27/2005

I brought some friends from Madison last weekend and we had a great time. The Sapphire and tonics were strong, the DJ hip and projected clips from He-Man were hilarious. The straight women in my party would highly disagree that Jetset is a mixed bar, but they added that the view was still nice to look at. Lastly, even though the music is great there were not a lot of people dancing. Overall, a great place to start your night, but i would recommend a large group it doesn't seem like a place to have an intimate conversation for two. Pros: free street parking, good crowd, he-man cartoons Cons: lack of dancing more

I wanted this to be a great place... 12/27/2004

This place just doesn't measure up. We recently stopped in for a few drinks with friends from San Diego. Needless to say, we choked down 1 drink and ran for the door. The atmsophere is like a parody of minamalism it trys so hard to be something it simply isn't. A good looking, fun clientel and a decent DJ but simply a sad attempt at being anything. I won't be back any time soon. Pros: location Cons: , drinks, atmosphere more

Everything I Need 5/10/2003

Nowhere else in the land of sports bars can you enjoy an understated smoke-free atmosphere with good DJs, boozy cocktails, and an attractive, well-behaved, and tolerant crowd. The space was designed with amazing attention to detail. Weekday evenings provide a sexy, subdued atmosphere for post-dinner conversation. more

Nose in the air? 3/19/2003

I've been to Jetset a couple of times and I'll say I like it. Not my favorite place to go, but every once in a while it's fun to get dressed up and have a drink. It's pretty busy on the weekends and there's always a good looking crowd. The drinks are expensive, but it's nice to breath in a bar. It's smoke free and I like that concept and I'm a smoker. I would like to say it's a bar for everyone, but it's really a stand and model type of place. Better dress up and have a drink! Pros: Smoke Free, Live DJ's, great atmosphere Cons: gotta stand and model, caters to certaincrwd more

Best Gay Bar in Town 3/2/2003

Jetset offers the best drinks in town at a reasonable price. Service is quick and ultra-friendly. Food selection is minimal but tasty. Non-smoking atmosphere is great for not smelling when you go home or where the same outfit next time. Smoking setup outside promotes conversation and meeting people. Overall, the best gay bar in the Twin Cities! more

Well, It Tries to be Hip 10/12/2002

As far as being hip, yes, Jetset has a "hip" look to it. There are only small benches to sit on and minimal decor. The bar is small and backlit. When you first walk in, you might think, "Well, this is different." However, in my view, "different" means not boring. Sadly, this place was boring. If you're going to pitch minimalism, then have interested people as bartenders and patrons. The crowd didn't seem to know how to interact or have fun with the space. My Manhatten was poorly made. Pros: Neat space, Good in concept, Needs "life" Cons: Poor Bartending, Boring, Just a little pricey more

love this place! 8/28/2002

Jet Set is super sheek, and yet so down to earth and friendly. I love hanging out here! It is so nice to find a place that is neither a lame sports bar straight outa the suburbs nor a place like the Lounge where everyone is giving you the once over. Any night of the week this place is great!!! And the no-smoking rule is the best! And for those that complain about the prices, if you are only having a few drinks, what is $10 for a night of great atmosphere and fun??!! more

Don't forget your credit card 8/15/2002

Being a member of the GLBT community in the Twin City's for the past 7 years I was very excited to hear about the opening of a new "gay" bar in Mpls. Checking out Jetset, I was very impressed with the interior, very clean, crisp and welcoming. Then the drinks...weak and very over priced. Sorry, leave the Manhattan prices and attitude in Manhattan, youre in Mpls! more

new york...mpls style 5/26/2002

I went to Jet Set for the first time last night. Glad I did...being from new york, i've struggled to find a good gay bar here in the twincities. Jet Set is it!! The staff was very friendly and most importantly efficient...no standing in lines forever. The crowd was nice...no "scene" I love the fact that it's smoke-free. Good for them for realizing not everyone wants to go home smelling like a cigarette. I would definately pay a bit more for drinks to be able to enjoy the smoke free environment. more

Editorial
  • In Short
The minimalist, monochrome space is a blank canvas for beautiful people of both genders to pose. The Euro-thump of the sound system is just loud enough to drown out the adjacent conversation without destroying your own. There are no tables, just a variety of '50s modernist benches, similar to those found in a museum. The full bar's martini and beer list keep things simple, so as not to distract from people watching.
