STAY AWAY ..FAR AWAY 6/21/2012

Have you ever gone to a restaurant recommended by many as the best in town only to find out that they've been coasting on their reputation for the last 30 years, serving bad food and fleecing customers because they're the only game in town?\r \r Well the NJ Wahoos is the swim club version of such a restaurant.\r \r First let's start with the lockerooms. Broken down, dirty, .lockers rusting.\r \r My child has been swimming there for seven years. What my wife and i found out is the place is very political. If your child is a legacy\r or one of the top swimmers of the team, The Wahoos is her oyster.\r Special consideration is given for private lessons. Want the good coach? Sorry. all booked up. But they'll make time for precious snowflake.\r \r Many of the parents are nice, but most are borderline psychotic. Ever hear of a 10 year old kid taking steroids? Well you won't hear about it at this place because the code word is "Performance enhancing supplements". They also pull their kids out of school more

an excellent swim club 11/3/2010

Wahoos is nationally ranked and known as one of the top USA Swimming clubs on the east coast. If you are interested in competitive swimming, Wahoos is worth investigating. My experience has been excellent.\r I believe Robert M.'s experience is an exception and quite unfortunate. more

stay away. don't waste your money 10/14/2010

Agree with above parent. Horrible instructors for little kids too. Money making scheme it seems like since the instructors have no sense in how to teach little kids. Stay away from this place if you want your kids to love swimming. more

A bit pricey 4/4/2009

This is a good place to go if you are interested in competitive swimming for your child. The only problem is that it is pricey. It would be nice if they had the option for more recreational-type swimmers to come for regular lessons. It seems very geared toward competition. more

Go somewhere else 11/27/2005

My daughters swam here for a few years. First of all the place has a very dirty feel. It doesn't seem to be at all maintained to very high standards. The coaches don't care at all about the kids. They will demean they and push them to swim through serious injuries. Our daughter had to go through six months of physical therapy due to an injury she got from swimming and was made to continue practicing or be reprimanded. If you want your children to be treated like athletic slaves, then this would be the place to take them. more
