When I worked at offices on Government and Jefferson, I used to eat at the Jambalaya Shoppe for lunch all the time. Besides their regular menu, they have great lunch specials every day. My favorite menu item is the pork and andouille jambalaya. It is seasoned perfectly and they give you so much that you can have it again for dinner that night. During the winter, the chicken and andouille gumbo is wonderful. Of course you can get it during the summer too, but on those few days during the winter when it is cold, the gumbo sure hits the spot. The prices are very reasonable, the service is great and the food is delicious - true south Louisiana cooking. The only problem I have ever found is that all of the locations are not open very late. I would like to have this for dinner more often.
