Jai Thai - Belltown

Horrible food, period! My phud thai was tasteless and the panang curry came lukewarm. Very pricey too compared to the much better tasting Jai Thai branch at Northgate. AVOID! more

I live pretty close to this restaurant/bar. I have dined there once but I will never come back because this place does not care about people living close by. Even at 1:30am, it plays super loud musics with doors open and allows a whole bunch of drunk smokers smoke cigarettes outside, which cause us a lot of trouble getting to sleep. It really annoys all neighborhood residents. If you are an individual who cares about the people living in Belltown, do not visit this place. there is usually a dj spinning on fri and sat night...and they have a secret room off to the side where you can hang out...and kiss. i love this place! more

The staff (waitresses) have stiff faces and make you feel unwelcomed. It seems as though their face is going to crack if they smile in the slightest. I've been surprised reading through these reviews at how many people say they have poor service. This restaurant is walking distance from my house so I go every few months. I've never had them misunderstand me, make a mistake with my order, or take an unnaturally long time. The food is always hot, exactly as spicey as ordered, and always delivered within a reasonable amount of time. I love this place. It's great. I go to the Jai Thai restaurant in Fremont all the time and they have great food and service. So, one night before a show at the Moore Theater, I decided to try this location. What a mistake! I can't believe that two restaurants supposedly owned by the same people could be SO different. This place was not only one of the worst Thai restaurants I've been to, it was one of the worst restaurants I've been to PERIOD. The service was awful - it probably took 10 minutes for the waiter to take our order, our drinks never arrived (but we were charged for them), and he brought the wrong food, which was literally cold. The Jai Thai chain is ok overall, but the Belltown location is the worst. Not sure how many chefs they have in the back, but there is a major problem with consistency. Sometimes the food's ok, other times it sucks. The service is mediocre at this location - the Fremont location is much friendlier. The best value for Thai food is at the Westlake Center food court. My main cuisine staple is Thai food and this place has it all. Great food, service was friendly with a smile from ""The land of a thousand smiles"" and my drinks were expertly made but the wine list is a little weak if you are wine savvy. The first time I went to this Jai Thai the wait staff was far less attentive than they should have been. We had all decided what we wanted to order for 10 minutes before anyone came to take our orders. Then the food took forever and one of the dishes was not what was ordered at all. Jai Thai's lounge is a well-kept secret in Belltown. Great bartenders, great neighborhood crowd, and cheap, wonderful cocktails. I've eaten there as well, and the food is wonderful. Great Food, cool space, lame sevice. Often we will have to wait a long time to get served/checked on, timing can be very off - I called once at 9:29 on the dot and they wouldn't take my take-out order ""they stopped serving at 9:30"". The bar is still in full-swing, but I doubt the kitchen was totally shut down on a Thursday night at 9:30 in Belltown. I have always enjoyed the food at Jai Thai but I have never been more offended with the incompetency and outright obnoxious behavior of the staff and management of this place. I recommend going only if you can speak slow enough for them to understand what you actually want and then be patient enough to deal with the inevitable yet repeated mistakes. If you have a few hours out of your day to devote to ordering from them then by all means, try it out; but if you are like most people - you just can't afford to come here and wait for them to get your order right the third or fourth time around. I have been to Jai Thai multiple times and I have never been dissapointed. All of the dishes I and my friends have had have been excellent. The music is great, my last visit was to the tune of Prince's Purple Rain at a volume level that drowned out the conversation of all others in the place. It was fantastical.
