The SceneThe scent of incense greets customers, and at first glance, Island seems cookie-cutter eclectic. Stay and look around; merchandise is handpicked, some the work of local artists. The staff is friendly and informative when questioned, but keeps its distance unless called upon. The GoodsEveryone's first stop should be the sale table--it's loaded with candles, mirrors, necklaces, cards and handbags, all at significant discounts. In another corner of the store, an adorable collection of sparkly dresses and leotards are any little girl's dream come true. Other wares for sale include sarongs that were handmade in Indonesia, home décor accessories like bamboo plants and nightlights and stationery supplies like Chinese greeting cards. Truly impressive is the jewelry case and the selection of natural beauty products by companies like Burt's Bees and Apothecary Fairy.
