Great brewpub in the heart of Newark! 8/15/2006

I love to go here to relax and grab some food and a beer. The appetizers and entrees feature unique ingredients and are always amazing. My favorite is the monthly specials that include either an appetizer and entree or entree and dessert with a beer pairing for each course. They are a great price and allow you to try a couple brews with tasty food. I wasn't crazy about one of the pairings and was allowed to switch to another. The location on the Wilmington Riverfront is also great! more

Another brew pub 5/1/2006

Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant in Newark both benefits and suffers from its prime location in a college town. On the plus side, Iron Hill gets a fairly regular college crowd and their restaurant is almost always full. Sadly though, many of the finer aspects of a brew pub are lost on the beer guzzling crowd, so the restaurant feels a little out of place. Still, the food is generally pretty tasty albeit expensive for being standard upscale microbrew fare. I suggest ordering heavy appetizers and sampling their beer but going elsewhere for dinner. A note of caution: parking here is pretty much only street and metered. more

College town brewpub 2/5/2006

Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant is your standard microbrewery and restaurant-- that is, the beer selection is refreshing, but the prices are a bit steep. The seasonal rotation of beer selection makes me want to visit them a few times a year, but their staple porter and raspberry wheat are pretty good year-round. Although they pride themselves on being upscale, I'd stick with the favorites like nachos and Southwestern egg rolls. The wait staff is friendly, but you can tell they're a bit embittered by having to deal with a ton of college kids. This IH has an outdoor patio, but it tends to fill up pretty quickly in the summer. There's plenty of inside seating available, but if you wish to avoid the college crowd, try the IH on the Wilmington Riverfront instead. more

Fun Atmosphere 7/12/2005

Iron Hill has a few locations in Delaware/PA. They are a brewery and restaurant that has live music on weekend nights. The food is a bit pricey compared to most brew pub type restaurants but is worth it. They have very good hummus and of course good beer. It is a nice place to hang out for happy hour. more
