Not bad for the price. 3/16/2006

The lunch buffet attracts students because it is cheap, relatively exotic, and of course because you can eat as much as you can stand. They have some variation in their fare as well. However, this is definitely not the most skillfully prepared Indian food in the area, or even on Capitol Hill. It's on par with a Johnny Rockets restaurant, if you're looking for a benchmark, which is in fact what occupied the site at one time. more

Good Indian at a Good Price 12/7/2005

India Express is a great-for-Seattle Indian restaurant. They have excellent naan, rice comes with every dish, and the entrees are good all around. Among my favorites: Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Jalfrazi (mix of chicken and veggies but less of a curry) and Alu Gobi. The only thing that I would not recommend is the Dal Mukhni which did not have much flavor. Prices are very reasonable for Indian. Be careful when considering spiciness as even medium is quite spicy. The staff is nice but there is not much in the way of ambiance so I would suggest getting food to go (or they deliver). more

I came across India Express in the Capital Hill coupon book one rainy night when I was having a craving for Indian and didn't want to go outside. India Express conveniently has their menu online at www.indiaexp.com. Ordering was simple by phone and delivery was prompt. The meat samosas are quite dry. I recommend getting the Lamb Tikka Masala. The lamb is tender and the sauce is your typical masala sauce with tomatoes and curry. For the vegetarians, I do not recommend getting the Chana Masala. The Chana Massala lacks any real spice or flavor. At best India Express is a mediocre delivery Indian restaurant that provides a filling meal at an average price. more

Yummy Indian Food 5/28/2005

This well-priced well kept secret is right off Broadway but never too busy. They have delicious vegetarian options and their meat dishes I have heard are also good. I love their sides and they are always friendly and never obtrusive. they offer beer as well as excellent food. For the indian food lover who wants something a little cheaper and informal, this place is heaven. Try their samosas for a little spice and be sure to get some rice to cut the burn. more
