Editorial review from Citysearch 3/21/2014

I have 4 personal pets, I'm active in animal rescue, and I used to work at a vet's office, so I have visited and am very familiar with many of the veterinarians in the Charlotte area. Independence Veterinary Clinic is leaps and bounds above all the others. I originally visited IVC because my dog needed an ultrasound and my current vet did not have an ultrasound machine. IVC had great ratings online and also quoted me a price about half of what every other vet did for an ultrasound so I decided to give them a try. I am so glad that I did! Dr. Michelle Bryan took so much time with me and my little senior chihuahua, Duke. She wasn't ""in and out"" like all the other vets I have seen in the past. She carefully explained to me everything she saw on the ultrasound, the reasons behind her diagnosis, and all of the costs and benefits of different treatments. She didn't try to guilty me into spending a lot of money, and she even helped me find the most affordable options. She and the vet techs were so kind and gentle with Duke. They were incredibly friendly and seemed to really care about my dog. Dr. Bryan called me the day after my visit to follow up and make sure I understood Duke's diagnosis and the different dosages of the several medicines and supplements he has to take on a daily basis. Then she called out of the blue a couple of weeks later to see how Duke was doing. She stated that the staff had been talking about chihuahuas which made her think of Duke so she just wanted to check on him. It is so refreshing to find a vet who actually cares about my pet and is more concerned about my pet's health than with making a bunch of money. I will now be permanently switching all of my pets' care to IVC. They are the most friendly, knowledgeable, and affordable veterinary office I have ever visited. I can't thank them enough for correctly diagnosing Duke and helping ensure that he will live a longer and more comfortable life. more

No longer the same 4/21/2011

When we moved here 30 years ago we took our dog to Dr. Beck at IVC. He was wonderful and we had many years of good service. When my 15 year old dog had to be put to sleep he had been her only vet and he was compassionate. more

Great vet clinic, highly reccomended! 3/31/2010

We bring our pug to this clinic and have always had wonderful experiences. They have been so good to us and our dog. Anytime he has been sick they were quick to get him back on his feet again. Everyone that works here is so caring and compassionate. They greet us and our dog by name and are genuinely interested in how we and our dog are doing. We are so pleased with the service and care we have received here and would not even think of taking our dog anyone else. We highly recommend this clinic! Pros: Wonderful people, highly skilled vets more

The best vet clinic we have ever used... 3/31/2010

We have been using IVC for many years, long before the current owners purchased the clinic several years ago. We were so sad to the Dr. Beck go, but were completely thrilled with the new owners once we got to know them. Each of the doctors is so caring and compassionate, in addition to being a skilled veterinarian. They treat our animals as if they were their own. The staff could not be any nicer or friendlier. They always greet us by name and know the names of each of our pets. Everyone takes a real interest our ""babies"" and is genuinely concerned when they are ill. They call to follow up the day after any one of the animals has been in for a visit to see how they are feeling, and the call us every month to remind us to give heartworm protection. I also like that they do things for the community, like gather donations of food for those that need assistance, raise money for the American Cancer Society, and offer Pet CPR and First Aid classes, to name a few. They are a great group of people that really go above and beyond the call of duty. We have had pets for many, many years, and have been to a number of clinics in that time, but since we moved to Charlotte we have been loyal clients of IVC and would not dream of going anywhere else. We are also involved in dog rescue, and I am so loyal to this clinic that I take my rescue dogs here and pay for their care out of my own pocket, instead of using the vet the rescue group uses and would pay for. Pros: Fabulous doctors, caring staff, very neat and clean clinic Cons: No cons, but I wish they were open ALL the time! more

AAA Patient Care 3/24/2010

I have been a pet owner for many years. I am a native of Charlotte and have had the opportunity to work with many clinics in the past. I have been fortunate in my search to have found the best. The Doctors at this clinic are highly compassionate, giving their very best at every visit, be it routine or emergency. I travel a great distance to take my animals for their visits, passing up many clinics along the way and will continue to do so as long as Drs. Bart and Michelle Bryan and Dr. Long continue to practice. Pros: All Pros Cons: No Cons more

The best vets and staff ever! 3/22/2010

I've had multiple pets for many years which means something is usually going on with one of them. Drs Michelle, Bart and Melissa are truly the best vets I've ever had. They are never too busy to listen, always willing to explain options, friendly, caring, and helpful beyond belief. The staff at this clinic is amazing!! From the minute you walk in the door you know you and your pet are special. I can't say enough good things about Independence Vet Clinic...they are like family and when a pet is sick you need ""family."" I drive all the way from Waxhaw which on a good day is thrity-five minutes and it's worth every single mile. Pros: Personal attention from the staff and the vets, very caring! more

Awesome Vet! 3/18/2010

Independence Veterinary Clinic is not only knowledgeable, ready and willing to help even if you call the day you want to go in, but they are friendly, kind and empathetic to both you and your pets. When my dog had a stomach problem that caused him to throw up constantly and I called the clinic. They told me to come in immediately and I was seen moments after I arrived. The doctor, treated Jack, gave him something for his pain and then called me for the next two days after wards to make sure that he was doing better and to answer any questions I may have about his at home treatment. The staff understand your needs and will inform you of prices of treatment, medication and will let you know what you can do at home to avoid extraneous costs. This is where the empathy for you comes in! I highly recommend this clinic to those with animals. With a huge waiting area, water, candy, chips, coffee, etc.. for you.. and treats for you pets, this place caters to humans and animals alike. I so recommend this place just try it out for yourself!! Pros: They cater to your needs more

Best vet in town! 3/18/2010

The doctors and staff at IVC have cared for my cats for about two years but last summer made me a life-long fan. One of my cats developed an intestinal blockage that required surgery. Dr. Michelle offered to do the surgery on a Saturday and then take the cat home with her so she could monitor him over the weekend. Her staff offered to stay late on Saturday to assist with the surgery. Over the weekend, she called me and sent me pictures of my cat so that I would know he was recovering well. I've never received such personalized, caring service from any business and, as a result, IVC is stuck with me and my pets for good! Pros: Great care, friendly staff more

Caring and compassionate vets 3/18/2010

We have been taking our dog and two cats to Dr. Michelle and Dr. Bart since they bought the clinic in 2004. We have been so impressed with their caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable staff and doctors. You really have to just call or walk in to experience the difference. They always know my name and our pets names, and are so helpful getting us seen. We rarely have to wait and they really seem to care about our pets. Once you go there, you will never want to leave...no matter how far the drive! Pros: Best Vet in Charlotte Cons: Long drive for me more

Wouldn't go anywhere else with my critters 3/17/2010

I have many pets including cats, dogs, rabbits etc. The staff at IVC have been nothing but the best for my critters. They are all smiles helping you through the front door and showing how much they care about your animals. Dr Michelle, Dr Long and Dr Bart truly care about you and your pet. It is easy to ask questions and discuss treatment with them. The girls in the rooms and at the desk are always helpful. I have been through three other vets since I moved here over 3 years ago. The other vets didn't even return phone calls and acted like it was ok for you to wait in the room for an hour before they got to you. This happened over and over again at 2 vets offices in town. I am so glad that I found IVC and am glad that I am treated like a client and not a cattle call. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Pros: location and staff Cons: Non yet more

An Impressive Vet Clinic. - 3/1/2009

I was so impressed with the treatment at Independence Vet Clinic. I have four animals that are clients at IVC and they are great with all of them. Recently my cat went in for a possible intestinal blockage. Rather than rush to surgery, Dr. Michelle and Dr. Bart carefully treated and monitored her for several days. Surgery was avoided and she is in great health. They were great with her and followed up with me to make sure things were back to normal and she was having no problems. The staff are always caring and positive and know their clients by heart. You are always met with a greeting and helped to your car with that awkward cat carrier. Dr. Michelle and Dr. Bart are clearly up to date on medical knowledge and use the current methods including vaccination methods for the animals. I had been with my old vet clinic for over 20 years I was so impressed by the high level of care and knowledge I switched my pets and have been happy at IVC for several years. UPDATE - 12/2011 Thank heaven for yearly exams & lab work! During a recent annual, Dr. Michelle discovered my 10 year old dog had heart, blood pressure, kidney and liver issues. She has worked with us to figure out the best treatments, dosages and diets for these issues and it has made a huge difference in his life. He is much happier and we have seen improvements in his lab work. The doctors are all phenomenal and the rest of the staff could not be kinder! I cannot say enough positive things about this vet clinic! Pros: Knowledgable, Conservative, Caring, Up to Date, Nice Facility, Great Staff and Doctors Cons: None that I have found. more
