Read allot of pre-opening hype of this Molto venture. It lives up to the hype in my view. Service was impeccable from the gent opening the door, to the captain, waiter, sommelier....

What a joke! A total ripoff, terrible food, awful service 9/5/2006

Had a reservation for 8:30, arrived at 8:00. Tables were empty all over the restaurant. Sat us at the bar and after one drink from a pompous, nose in the air bartender, we were ignored. At 8:45, I inquired as to when we would be seated. Again ignored. At 8:50 I went back and asked why we were not seated and they said we could be seated and put us in a table in a very bad location. Spent $800 on two bottles of wine and although overpriced, the wine was good. That is where the ""good"" ended. The food was terrible. The ""ribeye"" was cut wrong, full of fat, NO flavor. Not ONCE did the waiter ask how we liked the food, and ignored the fact that the food was not eaten and simply brought the check!!! No joke. Not once did anyone ask if we were pleased with how the meat was cooked or inqjuired as to why 2 of the people left the meat on their plates uneaten. Another insult. This restaurant will not make it. Maybe it is a place to be seen or to put on airs, but the substance behind the reason for it's being in business (the service and food) will put it out of business. Don't waste your time. There are too many great restaurants in NYC to put up with this kind of obnoxious service and food that is not well prepared. Pros: Nice decor Cons: Service and Food are a Disaster more

Odd Spot for Grandeur 5/21/2006

What a beautiful restaurant! It was great. We sat near the entrance in a little area off to the left of the entrance. Sampled many of the menu's selections and wines. Good place to people watch, if that's your thing and we sat next to Lidia. The service by the staff was excellent, particularly the sommellier/manager. Expect to get a big bill, but there is nothing small about this place. Pros: Atmosphere, wine list, staff Cons: area, parking, cost more

pretentious 4/4/2006

The space is gorgeous. The food was so-so and you would think it was a french resturant, the portions were so tiny. But even then, that would mean there would be rich flavors to take in. Not the case here. Wine was excellent. A little overpriced though. However the wait staff was great. I sort of feel bad for them as they should be working someplace that will last. Pros: staff, wine, decor Cons: food more

not a good experience 3/24/2006

If Your a Foodie, I Think You Must Go 1/9/2006

Read allot of pre-opening hype of this Molto venture. It lives up to the hype in my view. Service was impeccable from the gent opening the door, to the captain, waiter, sommelier. Food was stellar. My gorgeous dinner companion opted for the halibut, I the cod. Texture , taste, and plating were very good on both. Wine selection was deep and ran the gamut of pricing for all tastes and wallets. The tres pasta offering was the way to go and the agniolloti and the orecchiette dish were amazing. Be preparred to bring a full wallet, but it is well worth it in the end. Category of nice touch--my date loved the tiny seats that are provided tableside to the ladies dinning with the latest fashion bag. It was a nice touch. Pros: Food, Food, Service more
