Brought in an old (2000) Toyota Camry for A/C fluid and clutch (manual transmission) repair. Both accomplished. Took a little longer than projected, but Ideal stayed in touch with me about everything. more

I have been a loyal customer of Ideal Engine for about the last 25 years and recommend them to everyone who might benefit from their expertise. The reasons are simple: 1] they are great at what they do and fairly priced 2] if a problem persists they will 'make it right' for you no matter how much it cost THEM to fix it 3] they are a fun group to talk to! Most important is that I totally TRUST Dennis and all his staff with the most important thing to me...the health and safety of my family. more

I brought Ideal a very complex set of issues and they were all fixed perfectly and in very short order. Price was resonable, service was responsive and they spent time explaining all of the work that needed to be done. I had a full engine and transmission overhaul done and were completed with ease. more

A Great Service and Competitive Price Experience 11/23/2011

After several discussions with Mr. Dennis Serrano a decision was made to replace my radiator. Mr. Serrano ordered the part the day before and completed the repair within the time frame promised to me. I am a salesman on the road and my transportation is key to writing business in a very tough economy. Mr. Serrano also went the extra mile by providing me transportation from one of his drivers back to his repair facility. Mr. Serrano not only talks the talk but he walks the walk. Convenient to Davis Square and Prompt Service 10/24/2011

I was pleased with IDEAL. They were able to handle my quick fix on Monday afternoon just an hour or so before close. I heard about them through a Groupon oil change previously that also went quickly and smoothly. The car was returned clean and the mechanic was flexible about fitting my appointment in without giving me any grief! more

Excellent, local services 9/6/2011

I've been going to Ideal Automotive for nearly two years. They have always been kind, courteous, and prompt in their service. Several times they have gone above and beyond what we expected of them. They even came to our house to pump up a flat tire so we could get the vehicle to their garage for tire repair. We just did a major tune-up (valves, gaskets, timing belt, etc.) and they not only gave an appropriate quote, but actually came in under the quote they gave AND were finished in less time than expected. The car runs and sounds almost like new. Ideal Automotive is our primary mechanic, and all our cars go there. more

I brought my car to IDEAL to check out a metal on metal noise coming from the front right tire. I was told that the issue was the front breaks and that the problem had been fixed. The service was very timely and I was happy to hear that they would be able to fix the problem in one day. The cost of the repair plus an oil change and new windshield wipers was $550, which would have been reasonable if they had actually repaired the problem. Over the next several days after I picked the car up, I began hearing the same noises and they got worse as the week went on. Upon further inspection I noticed that there was in fact metal on metal contact in the tire which had not been fixed. I plan on bringing the car back to IDEAL so they can fix the actual problem I had brought the car in for. more

I came to IDEAL following Tim Hubbard from his previous place. I am still completely happy with all the service my vehicles receive and the advice I get as to what needs to be done next, what's most important etc. (My autos are both almost 15 years old, so it's all about prioritizing). more

They were friendly, not pushy, upfront about costs. I only got an oil change and had an air filter and windshield wipers replaced, but that was it. They were very nice! more

Fast, quality service by a professional and friendly staff 3/29/2011

I have taken my car to Ideal three times for service and have been very satisfied on all three occassions. I was originally attracted to the convenience of the shop (I live in Davis Square) but the quality of their work and the remarkable courtesy and professionalism of the staff has kept me coming back. I live very near to Ideal, and they always offer to drive my car over for me so I don't have to move it to their lot. They make repairs very quickly, and spend the time to fix recurring problems correctly. I got a flat tire shortly after my last visit, and Ideal fixed it for me in one day free of charge. The service at Ideal is exceptional and unparalleled. I highly recommend Ideal. more
