LOVE LOVE LOVE 2/17/2009

After reading about Icon on Zagat buzz, i had to experience it for myself so I had a dinner there tonight. This place is a gem and wish I had known about Icon before. \r The food is full of flavor. It looks as if there is a very creative Chef who understands the flavors and balance and it translates it in every dish he prepares.\r Service was good as well and I am excited to come back and try new dishes every time. \r \r more

Disaster at its finest! 2/15/2009

It was the night before Valentines Day, and I was spending two nights at the W hotel, with a friend for her birthday. We decided to have dinner at Icon. We should have known, at first glance, the place was empty. First, they changed the menu, so all you can order are appetizers. Five choices for forty dollars. So we decided to give it a try. The first, was a slice of sushi grade Salmon, with a dollop of ? Zero taste. The second was a piece of sea bass, which was very good. The third was some kind of duck that was so salty it was un-edible. The forth was a piece of sirloin that I requested well done, and was served raw. The food presentation was so un-appealing, all I kept thinking ?this looks like a skid mark? and finally the chocolate souffle was so hard that I asked the waiter ?would you eat this?. Needless to say, the waiter apologized. He picked up the bottle of wine we ordered with the meal, which unfortunately will not influence me to return again. Pros: Nice Ambience Cons: Terrible Food more

ICON, what a jewel 1/28/2009

I went to Icon during restaurant week...what a wonderful experience! Each plate was more fabulous than the next. At first I thought that the ""small plates"" wouldn't be filling. I couldn't have been more wrong. I tried the 6 plate selection and enjoyed every morsel. I have every intention of going back to try everything that I didn't order. This is a MUST go to restaurant!!!! Pros: The food tastes as good as it looks more

One Stop ""Eat""... Great food and fabulous service! 8/12/2008

At ICON, the service is grand, the atmosphere relaxed, and they fit our taste and personality to a T!!! What was even more impressive is they even got us in at the last minute during their busy restaurant week madness without reservations, which saved us from running around trying to find somewhere else to eat. more

Best Lunch Ever! 7/23/2008

WOW!!! This was the most amazing lunch fare yet!!!! The skylight terrance where I dined, was so subtle, chic, posh, and elegant all together. Don't even get me started on the phanominal food, the Chef here really knows what he's doing!!! BRAVO! I would recommend thi place to all my friends! Pros: Ambiance, food, and SERVICE!!!! more

Hidden treasure in Midtown 5/16/2008

I must say that I was a little skeptical about this place when I arrived because of the fact that it was empty, however like the old saying goes,""you can't judge a book by its cover"" I sat in anyway and to my surprise had one of the most pleasing dining experiences. The waitstaff took great care of myself and even offered me some reading material since I was sitting by myself. I had ordered for my first course the chicken lollipops which were amazing. For my main course I had a steak with spinach puree and lobster mashed potatoes and for dessert I had the fried doughnuts. I must say that overall I had a great experience and intend to return. You should definitely check this place out....... Pros: Ambience, Food, Service Cons: Music more

horrible service, unattentive, never clean table, overpriced 2/15/2008

disappointing experience, when you think of the W Hotel, you would figure good service, decor and more, food is overpriced, along with poor service, table was never clean, i just dont' recommend this place. Food was ok, nothing great, small portion. Pros: if you like to waste money, this is your place more

Really Good 12/27/2007

I was there about a week ago and had the chance to meet the Chef. The food was great and the chef was engaging and kind. The Snickers dessert is AWESOME. I definitely recommend Icon. Pros: Snickers! more

Disappointing 11/16/2006

W Hotels are known for their bars and their restaurants. I have tried this place a handful of times, in the hopes that it would be better than it was before this time around. The food is okay, but I have had better and for far less money. The lunch menu is tired, and the pre-fixe lunch special rarely changes. I expected more. more

A Great Date Place 11/8/2005

The W hotel is always a place for class and service and Icon is no exception. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the service is absolutley impeccable. The food was outstanding and we had homeade donut munchkin type things for dessert.. I don't eat donuts but and these were absolutely devine. We were seated next to Nia Long too so I got a little star struck. :-) Pros: Ambiance, Food, Service more

The Show Still Goes On 10/16/2005

I just have to say that ICON was supberb. I had my hesitations about going to another hotel restaurant, but I have to admit that they quickly changed my mind. I haven't dined there since the disappearance of Myriad Restuarant Group and thought that it would change it forever. Needless to say, that my company had a dinner reservation for this past Thursday October 13th, we had a rather large table with a very important time restraint. It all started with the GM of the restaurant Marisa who we know use to be the asst chef and the servers of George, Rashid, Hisham, and Stephanie. You are all excellent and I can't wait to come back again. If anyone has any second guesses about going to a restaurant that they use to enjoy but changed hands, please think again. You never know what you are going to miss. Bon Appetite! more

Relax, Sit-Back, and enjoy the ambience. 3/1/2005

Last week, my girlfriend and I stopped by ICON, thinking we were only going to check out the spot and have a few drinks. After living in NYC for 7 years and working in Murray Hill for 5 years, I have now found my favorite spot to wine and dine. The bartender Marla was fabulous, she had us laughing. After sitting there for about an hour, we decided to check out the menu and sit down for dinner in a lovely red velvet covered banquette. By the way did I mention how heavenly this was? From the way the manager at the desk (name starts with a M, short hair) to Marla the bartender, to Kendall our server. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the drinks are a hit. I strobgly recommend this restaurant to all of my friends more

Romantic for Two 8/5/2004

Great restaurant to go for a special, romantic occassion. The service is impeccable, food is good and the atmosphere is dark and inviting. Go there for an anniversary or just for a special night out. more

great place - great eats - good drinks 7/21/2004

When i first heard about this place I wasnt too excited to go... but its now one of my local favs The JUMBO (and I mean large) shrimp cocktail & the Calamari in the Hoisin bbq (OH YAH -- this is my FAV) Rocks They do have a year round price fixed dinner (and usually its a pretty good deal, with pretty good choices) And you can slide over to the other W-hotel bars and lounges... works out to be pretty great food, with a good decore and if you make reservations they can do large groups (20+) but otherwise it isnt that hard to get a table. Pros: tasty menu more

Awesome Food and Decor 5/16/2004

This restaurant has perfect food, ambience, and silverware. The staff is as beautiful as the cocktails. Allison is my favorite. My partner and I come here twice a month and always have a lovely time. Pros: Food, Ambience, Conversation more

Delicious food but too quiet 5/12/2004

Had dinner on a Tuesday night. The food was delicious and just the right portions so that you can have an appetizer, an entree, a dessert and a drink without feeling overstuffed. The service was attentive and the dining experience was overall very enjoyable. However, if what I saw was indicative of daily business and clientele, you should not go in the hopes of trying to impress an out-of-towner of a ""happening"" and hip restaurant. While it was nice to be able to have a quiet conversation, the place was practically empty and ""unhappening."" Maybe it was because it was a weeknight? Pros: Great food, Value Cons: , "unhappening" more

Bad lunch 4/11/2004

Space and atmosphere is good, but food is barely eatable. Carrot soup was way too bitter. Black ravioli tasteless and fish too greasy. As for desert I had what was suppose to be lemon cake and I was broth something that resembled angle cake with frozen blueberries and ice-cream Pros: service more

Disappointed 2/8/2004

99% of the time, i am satisfied with the high rated restaurants on citysearch. This restaurant was a 9+ so, it must be good, i guess that 1% of the time kicked in. The food proportion was small, and i asked for a well-done steak, what did i get, bloody steak. The waitress has an attitude problem and the server kept bumping into me or one of my friends. I was really disappointed. Pros: nice atmosphere/decor Cons: , overpriced food more

Nice Restaurant, Great Food but Pricey 9/4/2003

My wife and I have eaten at ICON twice and both experiences were good. Yes it is expensive but the food is top notch. Last weekend when we ate there, I got the Prix Fare which was a duck dish that was good but not spectacular. My wife ordered the Rib Eye steak which was fabulous. Still my favorite part of the restaurant and bar adjacent are the drinks. Have a great time!! Pros: Service, Food, DRINKS Cons: Pricey more

Good Icon 2/4/2003

Went for Restaurant Week and was disappointed in the limited selection for the prix fixed menu. Only two selections per course. Nothing caught my eye, so opting for the regular menu turned out to be good idea. Appetizers: those that we tried were good, though skip the soup, cuz you can eat that at home since it tasted like Campbells. Entree: the cuts of meat were all well prepared; no complaints there. Recommended: friend oyster appetizer and the short rib entree. The staff service was fair; they were not exceedingly attentive nor did we feel neglected (except when it was hard to find the waitress to pay for the check). The atmosphere is laid-back and the best part of it would be the bar/lounge that is located in the same hotel, which would be a great place to hit to grab some after dinner drinks with a date. Pros: atmosphere Cons: Hard to find Parking more
