Best Sushi Around 5/26/2011

I have lived in Orlando for over ten years now and have been eating sushi the whole time. Ichiban is the longest open sushi restaurant in Orlando, which alone says a lot. My boyfriend and I have tried numerous places in the downtown Orlando as well as UCF area, and this sushi tops it all. The fish is always fresh, and they keep there roles simple yet delicious. The Jen roll, is the best roll hands down I've ever had. We usually sit at the sushi bar, and the sushi chef's are super friendly! Owen is the best! I recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh sushi as well as a great experience! more

Bad Night! 11/6/2010

I ate at Ichiban a month ago with my mother and brother to celebrate my last semester in college. The staff was very rude! It took them 45 minutes just to order an appetizer and a drink! I ordered the sushi and the sushi was not fresh. My mom ordered tempura and she was really upset about it being too greasy!! My brother said the food was okay..but he complained about not getting any refills on his water. more

Ichiban is mediocre at best 9/25/2009

I recently went to Ichiban, with a friend, for lunch. The restaurant was her suggestion. I have dined at Ichiban in the past and I was not impressed. Well, my most recent visit solidifies my previous impression of the restaurant. Ichiban lacks in so many ways. I would like to start with service. The wait staff lacks customer service skills. They are short tempered and seem to be annoyed by the restaurant patrons. In addition to the poor service, the sushi is mediocre at best. The food lacks the freshness and flavor when compared to other sushi restaurants. I have never been a big fan of this establishment, but my most recent visit will definitely be my last. I would not recommend this restaurant to an enemy. more

What a mistake 6/2/2009

We will never leave Amura'd again! Decided to try a new place downtown and was highly disappointed. Fish was not fresh, it was dried out and fishy. We ordered the Hawaiian role and Volcano roll, the Hawaiian role was tastless. There was no site of spicy tuna to be found. If you love bland sushi this is the place for you. more

AMAZING SUSHI!!!! 12/11/2008

This was my first time going to Ichiban and I was sooo impressed! Not only was the sushi sooooo good, but the atmosphere added to the whole experience. It has a Japanese theme along with local art on the walls...awesome! I cant wait to bring all my friends here. Great location too! A must try for any sushi lover. Pros: amazing sushi, great service, awesome location Cons: not open for lunch on weekends more

Worst Japanese Food EVER!!! 12/8/2008

I had a terrible experience at Ichiban. They made me wait two and a half hours because they were not organized. The service was terrible...they did not offer refills or offer any assistance. I love japanese food, however, their fish was spoiled. I had a terrible stomach and diareah afterwards. Pros: Its edible Cons: Long wait...Bad Service...Terrible food...no parking...filthy restroom more

good food but service is not that great 11/27/2007

Best sushi in orlando!!!!! 10/24/2007

Let me start out by saying They have the best sushi!! They have been there 20 years and the owners are extremely friendly. I have been eating there for years they just got a new sushi menu that has every combo of rolls you can think of. If you are a non sushi eater they have a full menu of cooked food. Once you try this place you will crave it. Very trendy place to take a date or just hang out and drink sake with friends. more

I HEAR ITS CHINESE OWNED NOW 10/15/2007

Best Sushi in Orlando!!! 8/23/2007

I have been eating at Ichiban for years. They have the best sushi and a great atmosphere. I was just there and they said that they are getting a new sushi menu with about 60 new rolls. I am very excited. They also have great service, that will take time out and explain the rolls. For anyone who wants to eat there, it is so good. Once you start eating there, you will crave it..... more

Best Japanese place in the Orlando area! Fo sho! 8/21/2007

I lived in Japan many years ago and I haven't found a place to match any of the restaurants in Japan until now. The food was fantastic and the service was great. This place is top notch!!! The owner came to my table and made sure that my meal was satisfactory. I will recommend this place to all of my friends who visit Orlando. The owner is pretty cute as well. Try it! Pros: Food and Service Cons: Parking more

don't eat here unless you like crunchy critters in your food 8/19/2007

All around bad experience. The service was slow and forgetful, below average food and I saw a critter running across the sushi bar . Does not seem like a clean place. more

Love Ichiban! 6/23/2007

Having poor service at Ichiban is a rarity. I dine here for lunch quite often and the servers seem to do all they can to make sure I enjoy my experience. The lunch menu is also very reasonable in price. At dinner, the low lights and trendy music give the restaurant a wonderful atmosphere. The sushi is excellent and the desserts are a must!! more

Very slow weekday lunch service + mediocre food = Amura is a much better choice 6/12/2007

Not the place to go if you are on a weekday lunch break. Food takes far too long to make it to the table and the service is haphazard. Two visits ago, my dining companion and I were comp'ed our entire lunch (without us having to ask) because after waiting about 35 minutes for our food, the maitre D' came to our table to tell us our food order was lost and asked if we would please reorder. We were compliant and overly understanding. These things happen sometimes. Today at lunch, my dining companion's sushi order took more than 30 minutes to make it to the table and my bento box was served without the advertised california roll ""because the sushi chef was backed up"". There was one sushi chef on during a weekeday lunch. Almost an hour later and once we were finished with the rest of our lunch, we asked for the bill and was told the california roll was almost ready. We declined the server's offer to ""take it to go"". The food is not as good as Amura, and it is priced similarly. Unfortunately, we will not return to Ichiban. more

exquisite 11/26/2005

although known for the sushi must say the entre is just as tasteful I am always treated like a family member whenever I dined there. they are helpful on recommendation on the menu ambience is soothing look forward to my trips to Orlando to dine at Ichiban! Pros: tasteful, friendly Cons: no parking more

for you out-of-towners... 12/19/2003

i have lived a lot of places, mostly san francisco & NYC. those places are meccas for awesome sushi. moving to orlando i was convinced i wouldnt find anything like 'em...but i think i have. ichiban is pretty darn close. the slightly funky atmosphere like SF or NYC, inventive sushi, and good sized servigs of fish(very important). if you are an out-of-towner too or lived here forever but, love quality sushi...you gotta hit it! Pros: good portions, inventive rolls, never had to wait yet more

Yummers 10/30/2002

This is probably the best Sushi I've had outside of New York City. more

much to be desired 10/23/2002

I used to go to Ichiban all of the time for lunch and dinner. In the past it was very enjoyable. Unfortunatley, in the last year or so it has really taken a turn for the worse. The last time a group of friends and I went in, we had to wait almost an hour. The whole time we waited there were empty tables that had not been cleaned and set for us. The service is absolutely terrible and the food has lost its creative edge. And the mood is never consistent. Because of that my friends and I always choose to go somewhere else. more

Great food. 10/22/2002

I'm not much for sushi but the Lobster Rolll was great. I enjoyed the kitchen food much more, the gyoza and shrimp tenpura were more to my liking. My guest absolutely loved the ginger dressing. Pros: service, food Cons: closed on Sunday more

turning japanese 9/13/2002
