Family pet killed by adopted lab 6/29/2011

Our little "Guinney" a Yorkshire Terrior, was shaken to death, by a Chocolate Lab, our family adopted from the HSSA. This was within ten days of adoption. Words can't describe our loss. I am absolutely clear,I won't have any future contact with the place. I have in the past, dropped off lost dogs, and paid the fee: $20 something. Sorry. Stopped bothering, for a dog owner who has no collar, nor ID on their dog. Some other person can make the effort and make the donation. This is an organization that gets plenty of donations. WHY charge anyone, to do a humanitarian act? more

Before buying a pet - Please check out the Humane Society 7/18/2005

I know sometimes you are looking for a specific type of animal for a specific function- but if you are looking for a great family pet, please look at the humane society first. We have adopted two wonderful cats from the Humane Society. You would not believe how perfect these cats have been. I don't know how they ended up being up for adoption - they are that cool! I have seen many purebreds at the humane society too. The great thing about adopting is that the medical aspects have been taken care of- the animal is fixed, has had a check up and shots, and also has a microchip implanted too. On the news last week (July 2005) it was reported that they had a surplus of kittens and had discounts available. more
