A great martini list 3/17/2006

I've only been to Hot Tomato's for martinis and dessert, but served as a great place for just that. Inside, the buliding is very nice - open, with plentiful seating. The martini list is quite extensive - my personal pick is the lemon drop martini. The desserts are very nice but on the pricey side. You may want to call ahead if you are coming with a large group. The servers I had were incredible at keeping orders straight even within a large group. While it's not something I'd do every week, it's a welcome change of pace and a great treat when you have an out-of-town guest or big date. more

Fabulous food 3/17/2006

I recently headed to New Haven to go to the Shubert. I discovered through the Shubert website that if you dine at Hot Tomato's on a Tuesday night AND have theatre tickets for the Shubert (which is right next door) then Hot Tomato's will give you 20% off of your dinner bill. So we decided to go. The restaurant is located in the old TAFT building right next door to the Shubert Theatre - great location. The inner decor is stunning - beautiful architecture is a site to be seem. We were seated on the second floor which overlooks the lower dining room. The menu is vast with all different types of foods to satisfy any appetite. The prices are high - but worth it because a trip to Hot Tomato's is an experience, not just a meal. I would say on average a entree runs about $20. The have a fabulous selection of drinks and wine. We were seated quickly and served promptly, but never made to feel rushed, we enjoyed ourselves. Next time I am in New Haven I will go back. It was quite fun and the food was superb. more

Food is WONDERFUL, prices AREN't 9/27/2005

Hot Tomato's is a very busy place at night, especially on the weekends. Quite "trendy" but also quite pricey, I wasn't sure about this place until I tried it. The food selection is absolutely wonderful and portions are larger than you'd expect for an establishment like this. They have an extensive selection of wine and beer as well. Again, the drawback is the price; make sure you bring plastic! more
