I used to come here a lot when the horses are always running. THey usually run at Hollywood Patk about 4 times out of the year and then you can eithe go to Santa Anita and place bets there. You have the best food here and centrally located to all major venues and freeways.Sometimes you get lucky and win some money betting on horses or you can go next door to the casino and play some black jack. more

Hollywood Park 12/19/2005

Hollywood Park is one of three major thoroughbred tracks in Los Angeles County, the others being Santa Anita in Arcadia and the Fairplex in Pomona. Only one is in season at any given time, so if you follow horse racing, you will have to watch races at all of them. Santa Anita is the swankiest, but my favorite is Hollywood Park. Partly it is because Iglewood is more convenient for me, but I also like the layout of it a little better. I can't go too often during the week, but I enjoy the Friday night racing when they have bands and $1 beer. more

LA's second major horse racing track 7/14/2005

Hollywood Park is a major top tier racetrack, but it's not nearly as nice as Santa Anita in Arcadia, CA. However, they do have Friday night racing, which can be really fun to go to with a bunch of friends. The track, built in 1938, is also a little pricier than Santa Anita (by a couple of bucks for each admission level), which I can't explain. Still, there are many important stakes races here with many of the country's top horses and jockeys coming to vie for the Hollywood Gold Cup and Hollywood Derby. Also, there is a casino there which is popular with poker players. Located right next to LAX, so planes roar directly overhead frequently. more
