Instant Potatoes and Frozen Food 5/9/2009

The atmosphere, music and service were great. The food was horrible. Everything was frozen - my cornish hen even had a distinct aftertaste of freezer burn. My boyfriend's duck was super tough. The flavor was boring. It was disappointing especially since the atmosphere was so warm and fun and the staff was so welcoming...The rest of the reviews on this site must have been from a better time in this restaurant's history. Pros: Atmosphere and Service Cons: Food tastes like it was bought at Costco more

Fun place in an ""emerging"" neighborhood 10/11/2007

After high rent exiled us from Ft. Greene and the fantastic restaurants on DeKalb, we tried Kush in our new neighborhood. We like to think of it as a diamond in the rough. The neighborhood is still under major construction and the look from outside isn't that inviting. The interior is warm and cozy once you get through the front door. The friendly staff made good recommendations and the leisurely service made for a relaxing dinner. We've also eaten in the garden which was very nicely done up and I'd recommend it if weather permits. Pros: Interesting and delicious food, great dipping oil for the bread, cozy ambiance, very reasonable prices. Cons: service can be a bit slow, the neighborhood hasn't arrived yet. more

Truly wonderful experience! 10/2/2007

We had such a wonderful experience at this restuarant! We were a group of 6 from all points of NY/NJ who arrived at different times, but were promptly seated as we arrived and not made to wait until all 6 arrived! Who does that?! The food was delicious--we had food from the brunch menu--and the service was amazing! We felt like we were being hosted by someone in their home. Everyone left feeling fully satisfied and impressed. We will all definitely return in the near future! P.S. This is the first restaurant of which I've felt compelled enough to write a review. Pros: Great service, excellent menu, wonderful experience more

Good fare 7/27/2007

The laidback atmosphere, the music, the friendly staff all lend to this delightful experience. Had to wait a while on the food, but it was well worth it. The chef knows what he is about, and his presentation has a twist of the exotic. The sorrel and ginger drinks are delightful and the chocolate desserts are decadent! I would go back in a heartbeat. Pros: tasty food, great atmosphere more

Tasty filling dishes, nice garden, friendly service 6/20/2007

I just came back from my third visit and I have never been dissapointed. I have NEVER written a review for any restaurant, but having such pleasant experiences here every time made me change my mind. Pros: Flavorful food, good portions, nice garden, price is right! Cons: Attentive but slow service more

Great French/African/Middle Eastern fare right in our neighborhood 3/6/2007

We went on Valentine's day and had a great time. The menu was wonderfully eclectic. In fact we took advantage of the V-day tasting menu that offered 5 courses. The wait staff was really friendly, answering all our questions about the things on the menu we'd never heard of. The prices were great, especially for the quality and quantity of food. Besides food quality, the best reason to go to Kush is to experience their menu. It's hard to really classify what the cuisine is but it seems to be a mix of African, French, Middle Eastern and a handful of other cuisines. Pros: Great food, great selection, great service Cons: none! more

Great B'klyn Spot 6/19/2006

I looooooooove Kush! It's *my* place. The owner is super friendly and the wait-staff is excellent. All the food is great--brunch, lunch, and dinner. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. I especially enjoy the back patio now that the weather is warm--during the day or in the evening. You have to try the hang-over soup on the brunch menu! Pros: comfortable space, inside and outside eating, take-out Cons: a bit small more

cozy 4/20/2006

Cool little hidden restaurant. The staff was real friendly and the food was good. The service was a little slow but the friendly staff made up for it. A must try is the Sorrel Martini and the chicken gizzard appetizer. I never had chicken gizzards before but I like to eat so I can give them a thumbs up. The only disappointment was the grilled salmon was a little over cooked other than that everything was great! Pros: Inexpensive, good parking, great staff Cons: slow food preparation more

Oasis 3/30/2006

My girlfriend and I love this place. This place is only a few minute away from our house and we visit it for brunch almost every weekend. This place is small, cozy, and every customer gets a personal service. The portions are just right and are always finger-licking good. If you are in the area, stop by - you won't be dissapointed. Pros: Food quality, Service more

My friends and I love this place 12/20/2005

Because of a dearth of ""nice"" restaurants in our immediate area of Clinton Hill, when Kush opened up my friends and I ate there as often as we could afford. We wanted it to stay in our neighborhood!!! A year later, thankfully, it is only going strong. The food is wonderful and very affordable. Kush is self described as Pan African and their entrees really reflect it. Many exotic dishes served up elegantly. And the service is always friendly, it is simply a charming place to spend an evening. The downside is that the space is small although, it is beautifully decorated and I have yet had the problem of getting a seat there. Dont pass this one! Pros: Delicious Menu, inexpensive, friendly Cons: small more

KUSH CAFE WONDERFUL 3/6/2005

The latest hot spot in Brooklyn. If you live in the Clinton Hill/Fort Green or BedStuy area, it's a wonderful to eat. The staff is extremely pleasant and the decor is pleasing to the eye. The walls remind you of the evening sun and the floors are the color of sand. Its like dining in a mini Sahara desert that's been turned into a restaurant. Pros: inexpensive, good food, fun Cons: small more
