Higginbotham & Son fixed my A/C and saved my life! My husband called our home warranty company when our A/C went out in the beginning of September. I have pets and children and all of us were miserable. The home warranty company sent Higginbotham & Son. The girl who called to schedule the appointment said her first available appointment was the next day. She was very nice and after I explained my situation she said that she would try to tweak the schedule and fit me in. She called half hour later and had someone out in about an hour. The techs were awesome, Arvin and Steven were helpful, Within an hour the house was cooling down. i had to call them again last week for my heater, again the office girl was quite helpful and got me someone the same day. She even sent the same techs. i would recommend Higginbotham & Son to all my family and friends!!! more

I too had the misfortune of dealing with this bunch of hungover charlatans due to my home warranty company using them. After being given the run around and sensing that things were not right I did some research. Besides finding tons of negative reviews I also learned that they don't even have a shop - the business is run out of the guy's house! How they still get any work is beyond me. And yes, the positive reviews are blatantly fake. Avoid at all costs! more

Our AC stopped working on 7-5-2013. I thought oh great, just what I need, on a Holiday weekend no less. I called Higginbotham & Son ac. They came out Friday evening at 5pm. We needed a new blower wheel and control panel. Of course, this was at 5pm on 7-5 and there wasn't anyplace open. Joe fixed it so we could have some cool air(we were hoping till Monday), it went out 20 min later. I called and left a message. Saturday morning, the owner Steve came out. Steve said he was going to do a few things and could almost guarantee it would not work until Monday, so we went to a hotel and expected to stay until Monday afternoon. Steve called in Saturday night to let me know he would be at my house at 4am Monday morning. Great... Have a great weekend.... Well today is Sunday and I got a text from Steve at 10:35 that the AC was repaired and we could go home... I walked in and the inside of the house was 98 degrees. I turned on the ac, and its now almost 5pm and its down to 79.... This company was awesome... I have NEVER had someone come do the work a day earlier, and on a Sunday. Steve is a life saver. I did not want to fork out a bunch of money for a new unit, and he said I didn't need one, just a few parts, that he built himself, due to the cost of ordering them Had we ordered the parts, it would have been less expensive to replace the entire thing. I am greatful that Steve handled out ac issue.. THANK YOU so much Steve, you are awesome... more

The most HORRIBLE AC company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. After waiting all day for a technician to call or even show up (appt between 8-12). Was put on hold for 15 minutes and then hung up on by Eugene the ""service"" manager - what a joke. When I called back again, and stated my dissatisfaction with being put on hold and then hung up on (twice), his answer was ""Yeah? And I'm going to hang up on you again. "" - and click. Would NEVER, EVER do business with this joke of a company. more

I work out of my home, and I have two little girls under five years old who stay at home with me.\r \r HIGGINBOTHAM & SON, INCORPORATED was assigned to my claim over the weekend. I was assigned an appointment on Monday afternoon, but the servicemen didn't come due to a heart attack at approximately 2 PM. I spoke to someone in the office around 3:30 PM I asked them if a service person was coming, and they said he was. When he didn't show up by 4:50 PM, I called the office again only to find out about the heart attack. They reassigned my appointment for Tuesday afternoon. I technician arrived in the late afternoon and diagnosed a problem with my air conditioner, but needed to order a part.\r \r On Wednesday I called Higginbotham and Son to see how the hunt for the part was going at 11 AM. They said they were still looking for it. I called again at 2 PM, and they said they had located one on the East Coast, but it wouldn't arrive in Phoenix until Monday. I found out what the part was and made a few calls of my own and located at least two in Arizona. I called them back, and they were able to purchase one in the valley on Wednesday. They said a technician should be at my home on Thursday morning.\r \r I called Thursday at 9 AM and was told that the technician should arrive between 11 AM and 2 PM. I called again at 2:30 PM, and 4:45 PM and each time I was reassured that the technician would arrive at my home that day. The technician never came and I was never contacted to tell me otherwise.\r \r I called at 8 AM on Friday and was told that I was the third appointment on the schedule! I can’t understand this since I was the next customer on the schedule the day before. They eventually moved my appointment to be second on the schedule. It’s now nearly 3 PM and no one is here.\r more

This is the WORST air conditioning company. Do Not work with them. I was given them via First American Home Warranty and if I had read these reviews first I would have asked for a different vendor. The reviews don't exaggerate, this company is that bad. Their employees blatantly lie to you, it all starts at the top. Steve Higginbotham walked away from me when I was trying to tell him how unhappy I was with their service. He is must be both immature and tired of hearing complaints but doesn't seem to be doing anything to fix them. Stay away from Higginbotham & Son! more

The did the work okay, as far as I know, but dealing with them was a bit of a hassle. But, when a home inspector claimed there was a problem with the a/c, I called them back as they had just serviced the units. Higgenbotham stood behind their work, sent a guy out free of charge to recheck, and left us with the paperwork to give to the buyer of our home to show that the inspector was incorrect. That's something MORE businesses should do. more

HORRIBLE. WORST. INCOMPETANT. UNACCEPTABLE. TERRIBLE. RUDE. Guess who also has to use them due to our home warranty? US. Unbelievably nonchalant behavior. Totally unprofessional office staff. BOLD face liars. Have been without AC now for 2 WEEKS. Last Friday, 5/4 we finally had a tech show up for his MORNING appointment at 3pm. Said we had a short and fixed it. AC was out AGAIN the very next day. Called their ""professed"" 24/7 emergency line all weekend.. and got... NO ONE. Not even an answering service. Called Monday morning 5/7 and left our dilema with Carrie. No one called back. Called a total of 4 TIMES Monday. Tuesday, the same thing. I called at noon after STILL never receiving a call back and spoke to Sara. Had to RELAY all the information AGAIN even though she said she had all the notes/calls in front of her. She finally said she could have someone out for a Wednesday morning appointment. I explained I couldn't take ANOTHER DAY off and could she narrow it down? She said someone would be here between 8am and 10am. Yay! Not. At 9:30 yesterday morning I called to ask if the tech was still coming. No she tells me. There was an emergency and they had to ""bump"" everyone till Thursday. I'm not an emergency? Two weeks without AC?? She then proceeds to tell me that she did call. BS. I explained to her that I had been sitting at my computer by the front door AND had my phone with me, and NO ONE had called. She then says are you accusing me of lying?? Why yes, I am. So now the tech will be coming Thursday between 8am and 10am. Guess they only have ONE TECH and guess I have to take ANOTHER DAY OFF?? At 11:30 the tech shows, Nice enough guy. When I asked him if he could see where the originally tech had ""fixed"" the short in the attic he says nope. You need a new thermostat. Huh? Ok, I'll buy that.. then he informs me he has to GO FREAKING GET ONE. REALLY?? Gee that's something I would THINK would be a standard item for them to carry in their work trucks.. it's now 12:30, hes still working..enough said.. all I can say is that if you are reading this, live in Arizona and want your AC fixed in a timely manner. Do NOT use this company. AND to boot I had to give them ONE star.. unbelievable.. more

Horrible service! 9/29/2011

Like many, I was forced to use Higginbotham because of my First American Home Warranty. You would think they would have dropped them by now -- but that's another story. My A/C stopped working so the first technician came out on the second day, but he didn't have the proper capacitor on his truck so he couldn't do anything. The next day he called in sick and no other tech could/would handle his calls - not the best way to run a company. On the fourth day without A/C the original tech came out and changed two capacitors and the fan motor. Everything worked fine -- for 30 days. Now just last week on a Thursday the A/C stopped running completely. Another tech came out since the original tech no longer works for the company (incompetence perhaps?) This is one of their 20 year veterans. However, when he arrived he told me the fan they replaced 30 days ago really wasn't the right type and that he didn't have the correct one on his truck. Now since my unit specs are in their system and this is the fourth call in 30 days, shouldn't the 20 year vet have the parts (fan motor, capacitors) that he MIGHT need on his truck before he came out? After arguing with him, he said he would ""check the warehouse"" and try to fix it the next day - Saturday. Well, no such luck with their warehouse, so we had to sweat for another 4 days with inside temps of 94 during the day because of their incompetence. They finally fixed it on Monday. The A/C works except now it is much louder than it was before - it sounds like a lawnmower instead of a heat pump. But I don't have time and the energy to deal with them right now. I'll call them out again when I have some time before the next 30 days is up to see if they can restore the unit to its original noise level. more

If I could give Higginbotham & Son no stars I would. I too was forced to use them through my home warranty company and the experience, all around, from start to finish was awful. 1) They were impossible to get through to. The 24/7 service advertised is nothing more than an answering service after hours. 2) The folks in the office flat out lie (actually, I'm quite sure they simply pass on lies) but they promise to call back and don't, schedule appointments that aren't kept and don't return calls. 3) If you are not willing to pay the ""emergency"" fee, you will be moved to the back of the service line each time someone else does. It can take weeks to be serviced. more

Please don't waste your time with this company! They have a bad attitude, totally unprofessional and very smug about it. They took 4 weeks to fix my ac unit because they had ""experts"" who didn't find the problem, managers who didn't return phone calls(Jennifer) and a rude miserable owner (Steve) . Service One has them listed as one of their contractors- Make sure you specifically say you don't want them. Very Very bad experience. This company has no business staying open. more

Terrible Service 7/23/2010

They are rude - they don't return calls. After a week waiting for the service to be completed - I finally went to another vendor. Don't have your AC break in the summer and expect service out of these guys. Biggest issue is lack of communication and no return calls - FOR DAYS Cons: Poor Service more

In the middle of summer, my A/C went out and I was told by 2 companies that I would have to replace the entire unit. Well I did not have the $3500 or so, dollars to do so. Then I called Higginbotham & Son for a 3rd opinion, and I am so glad I did. Not only was a new unit not necessary, but they fixed, and cleaned my exisisting A/C unit, which continued to work throughtout the remainder of summer. I was only charged for 2 hrs. labor & misc. materials for a total cost of $205.00. What a savings!!! What a Company!!! just when I thought all service companies were dishonest and out to ""take"" you, I discovered a honest, reliable and trustworthy A/C service company that I cannot recommend high enough. MOST RELIABLE 9/11/2008

LAST YEAR IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER I CALLED THREE COMPANIES AND NOT ONE OF THEM CAME OUT WHEN THEY PROMISED THEN I CALLED HIGGINBOTHAM AND SON AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD BE OUT THE NEXT DAY JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DID, THE OFFICE STAFF SAID THEY WOULD SEND OUT ONE OF THEIR BEST I DIDNT BELIEVE IT FOR ONE SECOND AND THE NEXT DAY THEY CALLED AND SAID THEIR TECH WOULD BE OUT THERE IN A HOUR THEY GAVE ME THE PERFECT AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE THE TECHNITION ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE, THEY SENT OUT DOUG HE CAME IN AND OUT IN LIKE AN HOUR AND MY AIRCONDITIONING UNIT STILL WORKS TODAY SO I WOULD RECOMEND HIGGINBOTHAM AND SON TO ANYONE.
