Hermitage House Smorgasbord

Went here on Thanksgiving. Service was excellent and linen was crisp and fresh. Meats were fine.....however...BIG disappointment in the vegtables. All out of a can and nothing done except warm them up. Left thinking dinner worth about 7.95 instead of $20 each. more

Not gourmet, Not ""cuisine""...just the best home cookin' this side of Mom's dining room table. And the people who own this establishment are just as caring of their customers as if they are part of their extended family. When I had dental work done and was eating there several times a week, the owner made sure I took enough ""leftovers"" home with me so I woudn't have to cook while I felt miserable. They are involved with the community and have been a part of it for many years. When you need good food and good folks, give them a try. As a vegetarian, I don't think I got my money's worth at the Smorgasbord because most things had meat in them, but if you love home-cookin' and live in the Hermitage area, this place is worth a try. You can eat in or do a one-time buffet carryout for less money. I thought that the food seemed very homemade and of good quality and the desserts were fantastic. It's nothing fancy or gourmet, but it's great comfort food and offers lots of options. I know quite a few batchelors who thank Heaven for this restaurant! Pros: Quality Food, Lots of options, Great desserts Cons: Not for vegetarians, Not low-fat more
