I decided to go with another company because they offered a much lower price on propane and since Heritage told me to call back in June maybe they could give me a price I asked them to pick up their tank and they have been given me the run around now for over 1 week an a half and their tank is still sitting on my property. I called again (3x's) and said they will pick it up today (no show as usual) I am now seeking legal advice. I would NEVER EVER recommend Heritage Energy here in Kingston, NY.... how unprofessional! I wasn't looking for this site, but wound up on it by accident. I read the awful reviews of Heritage, and I felt I should speak up and talk about my good experience. I've bought my home heating fuel from Heritage since 2003, and overall it's been a good experience. Perhaps it's my good luck that I never had to speak or deal with the notorious Donna. \r \r From 2003 until 2010 we had an old oil burner that needed a lot of attention. Their maintenance plan turned out to be a great deal for us. Their emergency repair people responded quickly and were competent and pleasant. They honored the terms of the maintenance agreement without any problems. \r \r Once we were away from the home for an extended time and they failed to make a scheduled oil delivery. As a result, there was pipe damage. They paid for the repairs without an objection or argument. \r \r There was another time that we had a dispute with them about the amount of oil they delivered. They didn't agree with me right away, and I had to go up two levels of management to straighten it out, but eventually they recognized that my records were correct and made the adjustment I wanted. They were never unpleasant and never failed to return my phone calls. In 2010 we built a new home. They installed a 500 gallon propane tank with no problems or delays.\r \r I feel bad for the people who had such bad experiences. I'm glad I read their reviews, because now I know that if anyone named Donna answers the phone, I'll hang up and call back until I get someone else. Seriously! more

This company is a rip off. I called to lock in a price for kerosene. I also wanted a full service contract. I was given a price of $4.10 a gallon for 250 gallons of kerosene. I was told I would have to have someone come and inspect my furnace. I spoke with Allison and told her I didn't see a problem because I have ALWAYS had a full service contract on my furnace and NEVER had a problem with it. I also mentioned that if I couldn't get a full service contract that I would take my business elsewhere.\r I was told they would have to have a check by the end of the week. This was on a Monday. I mailed my check out along with a letter to make sure that we agreed upon the price of $4.10 a gallon. I also asked for an appointment to have my furnace inspected.\r I heard nothing, so I checked my bank account and the check was immediately cashed.\r I should have know there would be problems the minute Allison insisted on having a check by the end of the week.\r Well, Heritage inspected my furnace and refused a full service contract on the grounds that the furnace was too old.\r I immediately called Heritage and spoke with Donna. I told her that I wanted my money back and I was told that I would have to wait until October. They got their money the end of August. I told her that was unacceptable because I would need the money to put towards another company's plan. I reminded her that they wanted the money immediately so it was only right that they return it immediately.\r Well, it is October 4th and I had to call them to ask where my refund was. Karen started giving me the runaround and I quickly informed her that I had already filed a complaint with the NYS Attorney General's office and that I would be sending them fax the minute I got off the phone. I hung up. It didn't take 5 minutes to get a return phone call telling me that my check was mailed and that I should have it today. Sure enough, the check was in my mail box BUT it wasn't for the $165.50 that I gave them. They gave me $103.00 back. Again I called and spoke with someone else. I asked what happened to my full refund. She apologized and said that another check would be mailed out. I asked when and she said either the 15th or 30th of October.\r Now Heritage knows full well that a customer is suppose to sign up for capped pricing in either August or September. It seems to me Heritage is now playing games an trying to prevent me from saving money by capping my price for kerosene.\r I have placed a call to the NYS Attorney General's office and am hoping they will contact Heritage by phone and tell them to return my money.\r I have NO WRITTEN CONTRACT with Heritage even though I asked for one, so Heritage has NO RIGHT to hold any part of the money I gave them.\r I am now going to warn everyone in my neighborhood to stay away from this company and do my best in every way possible to warn others that this company is totally dishonest. more

Terrible company, they use poor quality oil when they can and lie to their customers. I dont think they really have staff available 24/7 - they say they do, but make you wait. The new generation is taking the company down... Harassing customers, over charging, poor office staff, what ever happened to supporting the community- yes- there are other companies out there who care- Heritage is passed its prime and going downhill fast. more

I also had terrible experience with Heritage. Donna is definitely a very unfriendly person to deal with, but so it the whole office. I am still trying to sort things out. Once they have your money, they sit on it and try not to give it back. more

HERITAGE ENERGY DISCRIMINATES 11/25/2011

HERITAGE ENERGY DISCRIMINATES. First let me say I am a professional working a professional position. I am college-educated but as a mom in her twenties and with the weak economy, I qualified for a HEAP benefit through NYS and I had it sent to Heritage Energy, Inc. in Kingston. I chose Heritage because I knew they were a local company and I have been supporting the Davenport family all my life as a life-time resident of Ulster County. However, when I called on Monday I was told that it wouldn't be until the coming Friday that I'd get a delivery and I was already out of oil. I asked if there was any way they could do it sooner and they were really nasty to me and said no and if I wanted it sooner it would be $150.00. I felt that Donna, the route manager, was acting in a discriminatory manner against me for being a HEAP recipient. She used words like ""We're giving you the oil"" and was extremely unprofessional and very off-putting. She told me to go get Kerosene for my tank and wait. Since I couldn't wait a whole week I inquired about the possibility of them being able to refund the money and she said we can refuse the benefit. I said okay let me check with HEAP first but I want to keep my delivery date for Friday just in case it's not feasible to alter the process. I called HEAP and was told they already sent the money to Heritage and that if I wanted to change Vendors it could take up to 3 weeks to get a delivery from someone else to just try and wait until Friday. I agreed. On Wednesday, I get a call from HEAP saying Heritage refused the benefit and weren't going to make a delivery. I called up Heritage and they were closed they left early at the END OF NOVEMBER AS A OIL DELIVERY COMPANY for the holiday (this was Wednesday the day before thanksgiving...""yeah so neighborly and with the season"") but after getting disconnected 20 times I got in touch with the answering service and was told I was put back on the list for Friday and I was good. I had HEAP fax another proof of benefit just to avoid any kind of miscommunication. Well, this morning, the Friday of my delivery, I get a message from Donna who says in shortened words, I received another fax from HEAP and I refused it, terminated your account and we are not going to deliver to you. Go find another vendor."" I called her up tried to explain the situation and she told me I was a liar and got into a fight with me on the phone. So now HEAP is closed, I have no oil, and they refuse me as a customer. It's the end of November, my career position pays monthly, and I now have to struggle for no reason to keep my home heated in November when they are holding my money hostage. I think Donna is discriminating against those that receive any kind of governmental assistance regardless of the circumstances. As a SR graphic designer and online marketing coordinator I probably make more than she does. But those circumstances don't matter. Whether I work at the store down the street or CEO for a company we should all be treated the same. They bully those that need the help the most. I will not support Heritage Energy or Davenport farms and I am making bidding for all my fellow neighbors to do the same. I am planning on contacting the company back to talk with one of the Head managers who actually want to sell their product to see if this is the values that their company stands behind or if Donna is just a disgruntled employee that needs to be reprimanded for her detrimental actions as the face of the company. I will follow up with this review to let you know where it lies. more
