Located on the Market, it aims for the tourist foot-traffic. Not really a locals bar, you'll not get the Charleston flavor here (unless you want to watch tourist carriages go by)....

I was very impressed by the nice 5/17/2012

I was very impressed by the nice restaurants and pubs centrally located near the marketplace. My husband and I visited at least six bars last week and found that portions of Henry's are off limits to men wearing shorts instead of pants. We're middle-aged tourists from Baltimore taken aback by these silly rules which were probably meant to keep out the rift-raft. We took our money and willingly gave it to Henry's competition. Baltimore welcomes all!! more

Worst place EVER!!!!! 7/6/2010

I was in Charleston with my girlfriend visiting her family. We decided to go out and have some food and drinks. The biggest mistake of our trip was going to Henry’s. The service was the worst I have ever seen. We wasted the whole night trying to get drinks. Forget the food, we tried to order food and couldn’t even get a waitress to serve us. We then tried to order at the bar but no luck came of that. The bar tender up stairs only served people he knew. I have had many wonderful times in Charleston in the past 14 years I have been going. Trust me, DON’T GO TO HENRY’S Cons: Rude workers more

rude waitresses 11/2/2009

when i paid for my drink that was 3.50 i didnt leave tip in the space for a tip, because i had left a 4.00 tip on my last paid bill for me and my wife. so as i was drinking my drink this waitress maggie came and asked me why there wasnt a tip left and i trid to explain but she didnt listen that i tip at the end of the night more than 30 percent, but instead of listening she ficked me the bird and showed her true trailer park. and then when she came back around i tried to have a civilized conversation about he action and i asked her to apoligize for her rude actions she flicked me the bird again showing me she really had no class. i figure i would worn other future customer that henry's has some very rude waitresses. thank you for your in reading this comment more

Charleston really is Hip 3/31/2009

I was visiting from NYC and saw some Antlers in the window. Can Charleston be this hip? Walked in and saw the Wild Boar over the bar. The coolest NO SMOKING painting, and fantastic antlers. The bartender told me that it was not quite finished, but it is on the way. I was confused by the colored scented candles on an upside down shelf and the artwork looked like it was chosen by 2 different people.(Johnny Cash and a weird painting of what i was told was the old Henry's Jazz Club.) I loved the brown painting on the back wall and the mismatched table and chairs ,candlearbras, etc.made for an interesting place. I was told to come back for dinner, but we did not make it. The design was the appeal for me as i am in that business. It has a great start, but needs the touches.(If you are reading this, your curtains are too heavy for a summer town.) Waitstaff very nice, but southern and the crowd was a bit not what was expected. But when i mentioned it to the concierge at the hotel, he said it sounded completely like a different place. and after reading the previous reviews, i can only say. It needed it. it could be a 4 for this town, but it is mixed right now. I will check it out agin next year. Pros: i love the taxidermy and antlers Cons: hate the scented candles. more

Do Not Under Any Circumstances Go to this Place 3/1/2008

A nice atmosphere, good drinks, and a great place to go if you want money stolen from you. 100 dollars was wrongly charged to my debit card, two weeks ago. The non-existent manager won't talk to me. The accountant is incompetent. I've been ignored, hung up on, lied to and insulted. And it was without question the restaurant's fault. I've seen the receipt for the false charge, and it has a different signature and a different table number from my real receipt which was only for 7 dollars. Yet Henry's still tries to tell me that this is my fault. If you want to be treated like dirt and ripped off, this is the place to go! more

Not worth your time 8/3/2006

Went there on a Friday night--BIG mistake. First the waitress wanted my credit card to start a tab. Then we paid the bill in cash and she still charged my card. I tried speaking to a manager, but he's never there.....hmmmmmm When finally speaking to somone about this, they said they'd reimburse me, but of course that never occured. Smart place---they made out with $250 dollars instead of $125. Oh yeah, it was also too crowded, too expensive and obviously the service was not up to par. more

This is where all the beautiful people go!! I've been here dozens of times and also the one located in Mt. Pleasant. After work it seems the lawyers and doctors of Charleston gather here to have afternoon Martini's. Later on it gets a little bit louder and and little bit more rowdy! One thing I have noticed about both Henry's are the waitresses and bartenders.... WOW! You must have the face of movie star and a body of a model to work here. So inturn this attracts 'beautiful' clientel! This place is so much fun! Just make sure to dress to impress!! more

Bartenders 11/3/2002

This bar has a very fun and unique atmosphere. Located right down on the city market. The staff is great and so are the drinks. This is a sunday night favorite! Pros: Good Staff, crowded, never a line Cons: Expensive, no parking more

Watch for the old men! 10/22/2002

Henry's is a good place to just chill. You can usually get a table and there is sometimes a singer. The music can get really loud and there can be sketchy old guys from out of town trying to hit on women. Pros: good atmosphere Cons: loud, crowd varies more

nice hangout place 8/9/2002

I usually head down to Charleston, SC for Memorial Day every year. when in town I always stop by Henry's for a few drinks. it's centrally located, near a lot of other bars and restaurants. has a nice crowd, great bartenders, large windows to let the cool breeze blow thru. it's a good spot for post-dinner drinks more

Definite Tourist Bar 6/28/2002

Located on the Market, it aims for the tourist foot-traffic. Not really a locals bar, you'll not get the Charleston flavor here (unless you want to watch tourist carriages go by). Being on the market, it (like all the other bars in this district) tends to be pricey for drinking. more
