Buyer Beware 12/9/2013

First, read ALL of the reviews of this place. Then search some other review sites as well. Google is a wonderful tool.\r Second, go to the Montgomery County Courthouse and do some extracurricular reading. Should be interesting. \r Third, take a phone book, open it to ""Veterinarians,"" and call as many of them as you want to and ask what they think. Listen to them very carefully. (Some might be afraid to talk to you.)\r If after all of that you still want to do business these people, go ahead. And good luck. Our dog had to be put down after being boarded there. more

Do NOT board your dog here. The staff was friendly the day we dropped off our dog, but when we went to go pick him up, the woman at the front avoided eye contact with me. I sensed something was wrong. When they brought my dog out, he was emaciated. When we got home and I put him on the floor, we realized he was unable to walk properly ... He was severely injured. If you must leave your pet at a daycare, choose from the numerous other reputable pet boarding services in the area and avoid this one. more

We purchased a GSD from Heidelburg in 2004. Smart, energetic, and drop dead gorgeous. Unfortunately, at age 7 he developed Degenerative Myelopathy, a genetic disease of the spinal sheath. He lost the use of his legs, and the last year of his life was pretty tough. As were the conversations with our 3 year old son about what was wrong with Max. We will never do business with Eugene again. His dogs have genetic issues in their bloodlines. more

Curious in The Woodlands 5/4/2012

I've read extreme reports about this company. I'm an old German Sheppard person and know quite a bit about the dog - which I adore!! However if this is a puppy mill I will bring it's walls down around it's ears. I'm going to be going there a few times, I'm curious, how many of you are real reviewers ... I would love to talk or email with you. I'm also on another site where the reviews are not good makes me skeptical. Also I have to talk with my Dog Doctor about this place more

I love the German Shepard that I got from Heidelberg. He guards his family just like you said he would and has never had any guard dog training, its all instinctive!!! If I let someone in the house and say ""friend"" he will lick them to death and try to get them to play ball. I love him how fast he learns. Thank you so much!!!! more

I cannot tell you all how happy I am that I found this WONDERFUL dog, friend, companion and alarm system. I am sure you hear stories like this all the time, but he has saved my home from being robbed or broken into on two separate occasions. I am so grateful he has come into my life. more

We got our dog from Heidelberg and she is the most amazing dog. When I go out at night and take her with me she is never aggressive but ALWAYS alert. She is a great dog. Thank you. more

We love our new puppy, he is just amazing and so smart. The breeder really seemed to know the breed well and loved her dogs, they live as pets in the home and not in kennels. more

Love the dog I got from Heidelberg! 9/27/2011

I love the dog that I got from Heidelberg German Shepherd. She grew up to be a very nice dog. I am amazed at how my dog can control her strength as she loves to play with other dogs. It does not matter what size they are, she never over powers them at all. If I decide on getting another German Shepherd I was definitely get it from Heidelberg! more

I was referred here by a good friend and could not be happier. My heidelberg girl is never aggressive, always alert. Just amazing. And like the others testified, she was not trained to be a guard dog. It is what it is. more

Healthy Heidelberg German Shepherd puppies are the best of the breed! This breeder lives and breaths for the betterment of the breed and they truly care and take time to ensure all of her puppies are placed in only the best, stable, loving homes. I know because I have had 4 pups from them and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Heidelberg German Shepherd! more

I disagree with all of this negative! We ABSOLUTELY love our Heidelberg puppy! She is a great dog and she is such a sweetheart. She is so loving and gentle. Just last week I took her to my daughters Special Education class (she is one of the teachers for 10 or 12 handicapped children). She wanted me to bring in my dog, Steffi, for ""show and tell"" before the school year was over. The hour that we spent there was magical, honestly. Steffi loved these special children and licked their faces and let them walk her! Her nature towards these children was gentle and sweet, and the love was reciprocal! Thanks for giving us a great dog! We absolutely love her! more

Dear Heidelberg Friends, Sabre has been a fantastic family member and protector and I love him dearly. He's been everything I was looking for in a German Shepherd and more. I purchased this gorgeous male, Sabre, from your kennel back in 2002. He was only 3 years old when I brought him into my family. I can't tell you how happy I am that I found such a wonderful dog. I'm sure you hear stories like this all the time, but he has saved my house from being robbed three times that I know of. He guards his family just like you said he would and has never had any guard dog training to do it. It is true that German Shepherds are absolutely fearless in protecting your property and your family with their life if necessary. I know that Heidelberg German Shepherd breeds the best of the best! A German Shepherd bred with the great instinctive temperament that Heidelberg produces never need to be trained to protect, it is instinctive! I will only buy German Shepherds from you guys because I know you produce the best! I cannot wait to get another dog, which will hopefully be soon! Thanks! more
