Best

I have my food delivered to me in California. It arrives via FedEx. Being in California, I have tried a lot of meal delivery services that are local. Although they were decent....

Worst

I have noticed this company puts out lots of fake reviews! Pay attention to user names and phrases.....not just on this site because they do it on others too! It's sooooo wrong ...

I agree with Terri. I have been ordering 3 dinners a week for 3 months and am a bit bewildered by some of the negative posts. I have extremely limiting food restrictions so maybe my expectations are different than most. And I did have to get used to the idea of my expensive, organic dinner arriving in a plastic container and not belittling it to a frozen meal. The food is fresh, for me simple, & the veggies are not overcooked which is a sure sign someone's doing something right. I have reduced my portion from regular to small and still I don't eat it all. I am a small woman, but still. My husband has had no complaints about portion so not sure what those negative comments are all about. I've seen no Clif bars. And regarding the price--lets just say that with tax, tip and drinks, I'd spend more money for certain eating at a normal restaurant, not get organic food and not get it delivered to my door. The small size at 3 dinners/week for 4 weeks breaks down to about $22.90 each. Now come on! How reasonable is that? Most people spend that on 4 Starbucks. \r \r There have been some mistakes with my allergens and preferences. But I chose to give the company a fair chance and every time I called or emailed in I got an efficient and friendly response, an answer or explanation, and almost always a full credit. They seem willing to make any effort to meet my requests and restrictions. What else can I say? Worth the cost? Absolutely. Like, Terri I wish they included full ingredient lists. more

I am so surprised to see some of the previous posts about taste. This is great food! I also think the portions are fine, but if you are doing a basic meal plan, you will need food outside of this because snacks aren't included. Ordering from the a la carte menu is great, but like other posts said, it's expensive. For me, the program is great because I love the food and the convenience of not having to cook after really long grueling work days. A very big drawback for me is that the ingredients aren't listed anywhere. I am an avid label reader and all you really get is a brief description on the site, and the food is only labeled with what it is. Aside from that, I am really happy with them. more

What a rip off!!!!! Very very small servings, very high delivery charges and no flavor what so ever......I could have opened a can grocery store food that taste better....again what a rip off!!!!! more

I've been nothing but pleased with this company. I am an actual user and not someone paid to write reviews. I have been using their meals for 3 weeks now and the quality is as good as it gets. It may seem a little expensive but when you factor in the time and gas you spend on groceries and prep, I think it works out in the end. And while I am a good cook, I was raised to cook Southern style and am not as good at cooking healthy lower fat items. My family is enjoying this food immensely.\r \r Lori in NC more

Beware! I also think the business posts fake reviews, but thats not surprising after finding a cliff bar re-packaged as something they made on their own! more

Pay for cooking classes without taking them! 10/27/2011

I bought a gift certificate from Healthy Chef Creations for my boyfriend so that we could do a couples cooking class together. The classes claimed to be held the first Friday of every month but that is not the case. Every month they make a list of attendees and if they can't fill 8 spots, they don't hold a class. No big deal except that month after month they couldn't fill the spots. On 1 occasion the planets aligned and we could make a class but unfortunately had to cancel. \r When we tried to redeem the gift certificate later on a food delivery order (after being tired of scheduling dilemmas) they told us the certificate was already redeemed. They claimed we never cancelled our reservation for the class and that would cost us the full value (close to $200!) for ingredients and staff. So it was our word against theirs.\r I contacted the chef, John, to resolve the issue and he said ""You cannot call 8 months later and say you want your money back! It is your fault not the businesses."" That is a direct quote from his email.\r The best he could do was offer a 20% discount on a food order he said would help ""recuperate your loss"". I am shocked that a business that is based on customer experience cares so little about actually providing a good experience. I would not recommend this business to anyone who does not want to be hassled with impossible scheduling, told you spent money you didn more

My review is both good and bad 9/28/2011

Well my husband and I ordered the Healthy Chef Creations the last 3 weeks. We have one more week of food coming to us. \r The quality of the food is excellent and most of the meals are very delicious!! :-)\r However, the down side is that it's very expensive. Also we found the portions to be too small in a lot of the meals which force us to still buy more food on the outside. The other thing is that the food didnt' quite stay fresh the full week. I think that the food would do better if it was mailed 2x a week instead of 1x a week. One of the meals I actually had to toss because it just didn't make it the whole week. Also when we ordered the website allowed us to show our preferences of certain things. We choose no gluten, no tuna and no soy. However our preferences were ignored. :-( Fortunitely we are not allergic to those things. It was just our preference to not have them. So my overall rating is just 3 stars because of the above mentioned. If I were just rating the quality of the food and the chef's cooking it would definitely be 5 stars! It's the other stuff that brought the rating down. \r more

...pretty awesome 1/21/2011

I have my food delivered to me in California. It arrives via FedEx. Being in California, I have tried a lot of meal delivery services that are local. Although they were decent...nothing really compares to the taste of Healthy Chef. I am sure it is combination of the organic foods they use just having a ton more flavor to start out with...and also that the recipies are pretty good also. The Pros: Organic. Great tasting. Fresh. Menu changes weekly so you never get bored. You can order ALA Carte which I love because I am super picky. You can also request gluten free, dairy free, soy free and a lot of other substitutions are available on every meal which is really great for me. Cons: They deliver on Friday...I wish the offered delivery on Monday or Tuesday instead. My biggest problem making meals for myself is Mon-Friday when I dont have a lot of time...weekends are easier. Another con is the cost...It is expensive. However, I do believe that it is worth it to get organic food, already prepared. Groceries can be pretty expensive too...and I have to cook, prepare and clean up...so when you factor all that in...it really evens out. more

HORRIBLE customer service. Food safety concerns. 6/28/2010

Unbelievably bad service - no concern whatsoever about our delivery that arrived at an unsafe temperature due to improper packaging. Several comments the owner made had me questioning his knowledge of food safety (food could be kept in the 'danger zone' for 6 hours, all that is required to determine if food is safe is a sniff test, etc - I'm not kidding) He either is horribly uneducated when it comes to food storage/safety, or he lied to get out of refunding my money. Either way is bad! Please do not order food from this company. After several requests for a refund, he finally gave me a store credit for half of what I originally paid. I don't intend to even use it due to concerns over the safety of the food. Pros: good idea in theory...... Cons: food safety concern, customer service is really bad. more

Wow! What a great idea! 10/5/2006

Wow! I had never expected to get the quality of a home delivered meal as I did with Healthy Chef Creations! I was so impressed! I travel in my job and just knowing that I can pick up the phone and place my order for the week and not have to cook, while knowing it is a gourmet meal, made fresh, not frozen, VERY healthy and ESPECIALLY for me... that's so worth it! I highly recommend Healthy Chef Creations! There's nothing better! Pros: Healthy, prepared especially for me, gourmet Cons: none whatsoever more
