But I do know they have a landscape company too. The whole company is top quality, through and through.

Terrible service 9/17/2011

I have to let others know about my negative experience with Hastings. I was going to spend about $7k landscaping my back yard, but only spent $4.5k. I'm glad I decided to do the project in stages. Hastings redesigned it -- building a small retaining wall and planting several native plants. I also decided to take advantage of their Personal Gardener (PG). For a year and a half, I didn't see a PG at my house to check on the native plants that had died during that time. Instead, Hastings would just send random people to replace the dead plants. I wanted them to tell me why the plants were dying, yet no one did anything. I went to speak personally with Michael Toner and he reluctantly promised to send someone. A PG showed up at my house shortly thereafter and looked around, trying to understand the reasons why the plants were dying. The PG left without answers but promised to stay on top of it. Well, the PG fell off the face of the earth. My repeated calls and voicemails went unreturned. Hastings will take your money but they'll fall short when it comes to servicing and making you feel like a true customer. I was referred by a friend of mine, but my friend feels terrible and has agreed not to do business with them given my experience. I was really looking forward to a good relationship with Hastings. I gave the company a number of chances and I got burned every time. I will make sure to spread by word-of-mouth my negative experience. It has been an absolute disappointment. more

Great Gardening 8/20/2005

Hastings is a great place whether you're by yourself or with the family. They've got a wide assortment of plants, animals, gardening supplies, tools, you name it. They even have free, complimentary popcorn to keep the kids entertained (as well as a slew of different animals including snakes, birds, rabbits, lizards, cats, etc.). Hastings has a plethora of flowers to choose from too if you're looking to pickup anything from a bundle of roses to a pack of azaleas, look no further as Hastings is your one stop garden shopping center! more

The best 8/7/2005

This place is a treasure in the middle of the city. A friend turned me on to Hastings first as a place to take my 2 year old as an activity. At first I was a little hesitant but found she was right. They have free popcorn, birds, ponds w/ fish and turtles and a train track with little village for the kids. That being said, they also have an incredibly knowledgeable staff who can help you with gardening questions and offer suggestions for plant needs. I think their plants are of unparalleled quality and have never been unhappy with the results I have gotten from their plants. The prices are a little higher than your Lowes or Home Depot but are worth it. more
