Harvey's is Fun 4/16/2010

It's too bad Harvey's has gotten all these bad reviews. Maybe people just don't know what to expect from a comedy club, I don't know. I will admit, this isn't the most comfortable comedy club I've even been to, the place was packed and quite noisy, and as I remember, there were long tables where everyone sat together, so it's not really a date place for older people, but it wasn't shocking or anything when I was there, I have seen a lot worse. Food is always expensive in these places, so that's no surprise, you are essentially a captive audience and that's the way it goes. The weak drinks you can blame on Hecklers of the Past, I'm afraid. To the poor lady who had to sit through a hypnotist's act: I am truly sorry, those who regularly go to comedy clubs would never go to see hypnotics, jugglers, or talking puppets, they go to hear comedy from real comedians, because they like to laugh. But, hey, now you know and I hope you give comedy clubs another chance, if not at Harvey's, then at another club sometime. more

funny or harrasement 3/6/2010

I've never been to a comedy club, but if this is the way they all are I will never go again. Way to crowded first of all. But the main thing that bothered me was that there was no description or warning about the kind of show that it was other then that it was a hypnotic act. I found it wrong on multiple levels. My main problem with it was that the hypnotist kept making his subjects touch themselves, and eachother very inappropriately. I mean, I get it, its funny, but at some point when does funny stop being funny and start being cases for serious sexual harassment lawsuits. I've never been to a comedy club, but I'm pretty sure that almost anywhere else, other then whorehouses, what the hypnotist was making people do was illegal. The main thing, since I know that most of the people liked it (they were all laughing), is that the club should give some kind of warning for the people out there who find this kind of show highly offensive. more

Cheap, Fun Date! 9/29/2006

A couple of months ago we were invited to Harvey's Comedy Club with a friend. She was invited to a show with free tickets. I haven't sat in one spot for so long and laughed so hard! The comedians were great. If you fill out the information card on the tables, they will call and invite you to a free show. Surprisingly the food is pretty good. So if you make it to a dinner show, save your appetite. The salads and entrées are worth it. Service is extremely slow. So be prepared to wait at least 45 after you've ordered for your food. But this place is usually packed so it's understandable. We have gone 5 times the last couple of months, and all of the comedians have been worth going to see. more

Be prepared to laugh 7/18/2005

Harvey's Comedy Club is great! Hubby and I meet our friends there at least twice a month, sometimes weekly. They have three comedian acts. They serve alcohol and food. There is a bar to wait in until they start seating you. The seating is cramped, but you deal with it. When you sign there cards for your information or leave your business card they have drawings weekly to win up to sixteen tickets for you and friends for a show. This is how we go so many times. You can pay to get it, but due to their drawings we never have. Parking can be a issue on certain nights, but we have always found parking within a few blocks. It is a great night of entertainment with friends. The food is good, prices are a little high. The drink selection is good, but the drink prices are very high. The wait staff is awesome and friendly. more
