The other reviews here are 5/24/2012

The other reviews here are disheartening. And let it be noted that the words are spelled ""corrupt"" and ""allowed""--so maybe your slander can sound more intelligent next time. (My third grader who attends this exemplary charter school can spell better). Any nonsense about this Fethullah Gulen whatever is just that--nonsense. It is propaganda intended to slander the school because of its Turkish associations. It was founded by a Turkish non-profit group. (If that, in and of itself is offensive, perhaps you should see a professional about your xenophobia.) Texas schools can use the standard of excellence that Harmony delivers. Trying to undermine them over ridiculous allegations is shooting yourself in the foot, if you ask me. Now, that aside, on with my review... My oldest child attended one of Harmony's best schools (though most all are exemplary) for three years in Houston, Texas where there was a large Turkish/Muslim community and many students were of that descent. My child experienced NO pressure or influence toward ANY religion or belief system at all; in fact they were extremely respectful and politically correct. (""Gulen zombies""... are you kidding me?!) I would pull my child out of ANY school that tried to implant any such ideas, no matter what religion/agenda/flavor!!! Our experience at HSA here in Austin has been a very good one. The teachers are very kind and supportive, the curriculum is appropriately advanced to give my children the academic challenge I am seeking for them, and the administration is fair. Perhaps because the school is in a financially disadvantaged area, there was not enough participation to support the after-school programs which we'd become accustomed to at our previous school, so we could not take advantage of these supplementary classes, but that was just a bonus anyhow. We get what we want out of the school--a safe, positive, ADVANCED learning environment. I'm very happy with it and we will continue to attend the Harmony Schools until my children graduate and go to college. And let it be noted that students from the Harmony Schools have a 100% acceptance rate when applying to college. This is the school I have chosen for my children and I am proud to have done so. Good luck to you in your search as well."" more

i went to harmony for my 6 an 7 grade year. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO SCHOOL HERE THEY TRY AND CORUPT YOUR MIND WITH THERE IDEAS. while i was there i was treated worse then the muslim and turkish children because i was a christian and did not agree with there ideas. they had a muslim prayer room. some of the students where upset because those who where not muslim where not aloud to leave class to pray like them and when we requested to make a christian prayer room we were denied. a teacher tried to start one and they told her she would be fired for it. it is an islamic cult. more

Fethullah Gulen Turkish Islamic Cult School 3/11/2011

The Harmony schools in Texas are run by a Islamic Turkish imam named Fethullah Gulen. Please do your research on the Gulen Movement. They operate under the umbrella of the Cosmos foundation. There are almost 200 of them in the USA. They have different names in different states, all of them as innocent sounding as ""Harmony"". The vast majority of teachers and administrators come from Turkey on H1B visas. They have state politicians in their pocket, offering free and state paid trips to Turkey to explore Interfaith Dialog. Please parent's, do your research and Mom's follow your instincts. They are building a ""harmony political science"" school in NW Austin right now. Great way to get more Gulen zombies planted in the local government! The FBI is investigating them and they are being shut down in other parts of the world. The whole thing reeks of illegal activity and is hurting our kids all with our tax dollars, fantastic....... more

Harmony Schools are certainly worth considering. 7/24/2008

Harmony Schools are not your ordinary kind of schools. Yes, they do have many turkish educators but they do an awesome job with the children. Yes, the first school opened here is not very pretty however, their TEKS schools are exemplary. My 3 children (hispanic) have attended these schools for 3 years and the education that they have received is outstanding and does not compare to public school education. I am an educator myself with the local public school system and have no regrets about moving my children from public school to these fine quality charter schools. The goals and expectations that they set are backed with committment and dedication from all of the teachers. They put it alot of efford to make sure that the students attain these goals. My children even attended school on saturdays when they needed extra help and some times just for fun extracurricular activites. They also do alot of fun quality activities with the classes on weekends. Teachers come out to your home to visit with you when there are concerns or just to provide information or to praise the children. Children know that their teachers really do care. Class sizes are small and allow for more teacher to student interaction. Harmony Schools are certainly worth looking into if you are not satisfied with public schools. The Harmony Schools in Austin are rated recognized and exemplary by the State and that sure beats our schools systems around here. Pros: Many educational , multicultural and extracurricular activities are offered. Cons: Sports activities are limited. Emphasis is on Education. more
