I had a simple clog in my kitchen sink that needed some attention. I called him up, he came in a couple of hours, and fixed it in 15 minutes. Then I get the bill in the mail for a preposterous $165 without - no surprise - itemization. $165 for 15 minutes of work. I call up and complain, and he leaves a message saying that he was charging me his full hourly rate for the drive in thus explaining that crazy bill.
First off, lets just embrace the ridiculous premise of me having to pay him for driving. I see private clients all the time and I charge them for the actual work that I do, not the drive. Second, his office is in East Falls and I'm in Center City. He claimed it took him an hour and a half to drive in and 15-20 minutes to find parking. It does NOT take an hour and a half to drive from East Falls to Center City unless, of course, you know you're going to be charging your client that entire time. Then of course it could take as long as you want, including taking your sweet old time to find parking.
Scam artist, shifty - whatever you want to call him, Bob Harker is not a man I will ever do business with again, nor a man I will ever recommend to anybody in the area.
