Had a great party!! 3/19/2011

Had my son's birthday party at Happy Tymes and I was alittle nervous after reading all the reviews but my family and friends had a BLAST! Our "party captain" was extremely helpful and made my job really easy! She sets up the room, puts the food out, poors the drinks, cleans up, cuts the cake, hands out the cake, puts the presents out, and then cleans everything up at the end. I didn't have to worry about anything! I'm looking forward to having my son's party there next year! more

Great Time, Good Staff 11/17/2010

Not sure about other reviewers. Went here last Saturday and it was crowded, but staff was very helpful and manager went out of his way to make sure my kids had fun and left with a smile. Food was good and not expensive. My oldest like the Go Karts and rode all day for $20. The staff was friendly and I decided to plan my daughter's party here in December. Some people seem to complain about the strangest things. Try out Happy Tymes, you won't be sorry! more

Rudeness, crowded, cruel to my disabled child 8/8/2010

Rude cold management to my disabled child. Never have I been treated so coldly. My poor little non-verbal son with autism left in tears, place refused to accomodate for his disability which I think is not even legal. People have no idea how hard it is to struggle through a day with a disabled child enough without being ousted and suffering the emotional rejection and callousness of places like this. Besides this the pricesare high, too many crowds, and not much open parking, except for handicapped spots, which were all empty, not sure that is a coincidence or the way we are treated.. more

We had the Best Time at Happy Tymes 6/26/2010

I went to Happy Tymes yesterday with my grand son, a friend and her grand daughter. We had a GREAT TIME. I told several friends about my experience at Happy Tymes. The price was right. This is a must for family fun. It was great indoor and outdoor entertaiment for everyone. Check out the go carts!!!!!!! more

terrible tymes! 5/11/2010

Good: N/A. Bad: The owner was the meanest man I have ever talked to. I believe this is a family run company. He really needs to let his family work there and let him stay home. He is nothing but rude. I asked him a question and he blew up in my face for nothing. like seriously? great way to keep business. I would NEVER go there. Many of the other employees are rude too but there are also many that were nice and caring to their customers, you know, the way you would expect the owner to be like.... Improvements: Have the owner, Bud, stay home. Also, have more things for every age group to have fun with. The go carts are great, but I think they should add more things for older teens/adults to do with family and friends.. Other: I wouldnt reccomend this place to anybody.. more

Great time, great value 6/13/2009

Just spent the day at Happy Tymes with my 3 boys. They had a great time and I spent less than I expected! The place was very clean and the food was great. The service was quick and very pleasant/helpful. Will definitely be spending time there this summer, the kids can't wait to go back. more

Not a Happy Time at Happy Tymes!! 3/20/2009

I am the mother of 2 children who has been patronizing play centers for 5 years. I have never had such a negative experience or been so insulted as I was today at Happy Tymes. After spending $40 there in 2 hours, I went to the ladies room to change my 21 mnth old. There was no changing table and when I asked the owner where I might find one, I was told that the elongated counter attached to the sink was it. When I expressed concern that this was unsanitary I was told that it had been like that for years and if I didn't like it I could take my child across the street to another establishment to change her! I cannot convey the level of anger and sarcasm directed at me by the owner for simply asking for a clean & safe place to change my child. The set up in the bathroom is unsanitary & dangerous, with an uncovered socket located just in arms reach of a child lying there. In a child's play center where they charge full admission for children under 2, they should provide safe and adequate accommodations for those children. In addition to the owner being extraordinarily rude and completely ungrateful for my business and the terrible accommodations for toddlers & babies(unsafe changing area, shortage of highchairs, etc), I also found the toddler play area and eating area to be very dirty. I cannot stress enough what a terrible experience this was! You will not have a happy time at Happy Tymes!! more

Crappy Times 5/15/2008

We planned out daughters 2nd birthday party at Happy Times for May 25, 2008 (Memorial Day weekend). We had about (20) children along with about (20) adults (we have a big family and they all want to be there for our daughter). Last Tuesday my wife asked me to take a ride to Happy Times to see the facility/ room, etc. My wife, my sister, my daughter & I went in and first confirmed that our reservations were made, which they were. She asked the young man behind the counter if we could see the room that we were having the party in and he said no problem. (He was very professional and courteous). We proceeded to go upstairs where there are about 5 rooms (4 small & 1 large). My wife asked a employee that was upstairs (hard looking middle aged women with a tattoo on here ankle-I think her name was Michelle) a few questions about the parties and she seemed annoyed to answer them. After looking at the rooms we went back downstairs and approached the front counter again so my wife could finalize a few things. As we were standing there "Michelle" came behind the counter to see what we needed. My wife was told that there was only (1) other party booked along with ours and that arty might not be coming so my wife asked if the day of our party, if no one else was booked, could we could use the larger room to accommodate our guests and was immediately told NO! and not in a nice way. My wife proceeded to explain that we are both in the customer service business and understand that they could not guarantee anything but make the decision the day of the party. Michelle replied I don't care where you worked and NO, we don't do that here! This is where it gets good. This turns into a heated argument that thankfully calmed down after a few minutes. The young man tried to calm down the situation by being professional but it was obvious to us that Michelle has never had any form of customer service training, ever. During the conversation between her and my wife, the only thing she would say was that she can give us our deposit back, basically like she just did not need the business. We come to find out that "Michelle" was the owners daughter.. shocking to say the least. We finally leave and have a long conversation about where else we could have the party. We get home and not 20 minutes later the phone rings.. It's Michelle from Happy Times telling my wife that the owners decided that they did not need our business and they were refunding our deposit. We doubted that the owner would turn our business away so my wife asked if she could have the owners name and Michelle replied No and hung up! Are you kidding me? I told my wife that this was a blessing and unfortunately, like the other negative reviews that are posted they had there parties and it was too late to change plans. We decided to have it at Giggleberry Fair in Peddler's Village and so far they are very accommodating. (We should have booked it there from the start, its a nicer place). To wrap this up my wife did finally get a hold of the owner (Bud) and he had the same negative attitude as Michelle, Big surprise. I guess the apple don't fall far from the tree. She did explain to him that she owns a Cheerleading organization and me being in the PGA in the area that we would definitely spread the word. Bottom line, do not book your party at Happy Times. more

Kids Love This Place 10/21/2007

My kids love this place--it is very clean and the games, might be 2 or 3 tokens but they pay out 500 tickets if you win a jackpot. CEC only pays out a jackpot of 50 tickets. That is why they are only 1 token each. The party we attended was great. There was 25 kids and the party host had the patience of a saint. My friend provided a cake and loot bags--HT does not provide these, but they do provide cups, plates and everything else. The go carts are a blast and still are cheaper than any other place. We also checked out the new Bowling Center they added--it is awesome!! Smoke free and every gadget possible. The prices are actually cheaper than the old, dirty, smoke filled centers we used to go to, but no more. The cosmic bowling on Sunday afternoon was great. We definitely recommend this place to kids of all ages. Staff is friendly, but kids running rides do walk away for shift changes, the n they are replaced. Overall the cost cannot be beat. more

Never Again... 6/10/2007

Having never had a party at this particular establishment and being a fairly organized person who wanted to go in with a plan, I inquired from the staff of the Happy Tymes Fun Center how does their party worked...who did what/when/how so that I could plan a nice party. Rather than explaining the details to you, the staff keeps telling don't worry, they take care of everything. You don't need to do a thing. So you get the idea that this is a high-service, professionally run kind of a party establishment, and that you'll be able to relax and enjoy your child's party and (since you are paying so much for the party) their staff will run the party for you. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, other than carry your (self-provided) cake upstairs to a party room and write your child's name on a white board outside a party room, they really don't do anything at all. There is no "there" there. The party consists of all your guests running around wild in a chaotic, super sensory overload archade type environment which is quite stressful. As the parent of the birthday child, you find yourself immediately cast in the role of sheep herder and security guard. You don't even have time to take a picture of your child or to enjoy the party. The kids run out of the small amount of tickets and tokens virtually instantly and even after the $15 per child fee, you are still running back to purchase more tickets and tokens. Count on spending at least another $60-70 in additional tickets and tokens to keep the kids occupied for the full 2 hours. The ear splitting din is punctuated by insanely loud loudspeaker announcements. I can't emphasize the loudness enough - a couple of our quieter kids became almost catatonic in sensory overload. A significant issue is the lack of security - there are no security wristbands or limited access exits like at other establishments we have used before. The layout is such that you just cannot manage to keep 12 kids in the same area where you can even see all of the children at the same time. We made party t-shirts to keep the group together and be able to identify which kids were our group and this still wasn't enough to assure that you knew that all 12 of your kids were still in the building at any one time. There are 3 unguarded major exits to the games area out to the parking lots, the batting cages and the golf area, which a child could enter or exit at will and where large volumes of people are milling in and out constantly, so a child could end up outside the game building very easily. The bathrooms are poorly located, representing another security concern. If child has just wandered off and left the group to go to the back of the complex to go to the bathroom, you can't go with them or go find them for fear of leaving the remainder of your group exposed to the 3 unguarded exits. If a child has to go to the bathroom during the party room portion of the event, there are no bathrooms on the party room level and so they must go back down into the games level while your whole party is upstairs. Bottom line: bring lots of extra chaparones, bring lots of money, and bring either ear plugs or take lots of aspirin (you will have a splitting headache later). Oh, and don't bother make a comment about the service level not being what was promised from your "party captain" because my complaints feel entirely on deaf ears with the manager still shouting at me as I finally walked away. And make sure your party captain doesn't cart off your party favors after the birthday cake-eating because you won't see them again until after the party and after your guests have already left. That about wraps up the experience. Proceed at your own risk... more

Mixed reviews! 4/26/2006

Okay, I have to separate categories here. 1) Price- For the rides you can buy a band for $16 which is a great deal! You can ride as many times as you want & there are a lot of rides to choose from. The slime spinner, the rock wall, the train, the froggie hopper, the climbing area and the go-karts. The only thing not covered by the band is the batting cages. As for video games, they all cost .25 to $2 each! This is NOT worth it! I prefer using 1 token for each game at Chuck E Cheese. 2) Rides- the choices are great, however, the staff "changes shifts" by leaving it unstaffed and then anywhere from 5-10 minutes later someone comes to take over. this is rediculous!! I was so angry one day, every time we got in line the person left! I finally went to the manager and complained! 3) Birthday Parties- It is fairly expensive to have a party here, I think about $14 a head. You get a handful of tokens (10 I think) and enough tickets for a couple of rides. You also get pizza, but every party I have gone to has supplied their own cake, so I'm not sure if they provided it or if they MUST be self bought. Seems like there isn't much to the party, but the little kiddos do have fun. 4) Food- They used to get hoagies & cheesesteaks from another company, which tasted great, and was a great value, but have since changed. The pizza is average. more
