i had a ridiculously bad experience and strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere. I bought a very expensive Outdoor Grill from them that malfunctioned within 18 mnoths of purchase.. They twice sent people out to assess the issue, twice they told me they would call me about needed reparis and after three calls to them that were not responded to they said they couldnt tell which repair person had been at my home and what was wrong. Finally an intelligent sounding woman responded to yet another call I made and apologetically told me she would look into it and send someone out the next day or so to do it over and would call me back in 24 hours. I never heard from her again. i made one last call asking for a tech to come out beofre the grill was put away for the season. I was told it was a low priority because I didnt need the grill now and they would try to get there in 10 days. I gave up and found a responsive repair service. On Friday, April 26, I had an appointment for Hampton Hearth to come to my home to service my gas fireplace. The technician was scheduled to arrive between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. On the morning of the 26th, I called Hampton Hearth to confirm the appointment, and (because I've had issues with them not keeping appointments in a timely fashion in the past), I let them know that I had to leave the house at 5:00pm. I was assured that the technician was running on time, and that someone would notify me if he would be late. At 5:00pm, the technician still had not shown up. I left the house. I received a voicemail message at 5:30 (I was unable to answer my phone at this appointment) saying that the technician is at my home ""but no one is there"". I called back at 6:00pm to let them know that I was home and the technician could return. I left a message on their voicemail system, and the call was not returned. On Saturday, April 27, I called to inquire why the appointment wasn't kept, why no one called me to let me know that the technician was running late, and to reschedule the appointment. The man I spoke with insisted that I should have called them to let them know that I wouldn't be there (an hour and a half after the scheduled appointment time). I told him that, in fact, I HAD called prior to the appointment to arrange all this. This man, whose name I don't know, became very rude and said, ""Well, that was Derek you were talking to, not me!"" When I continued speaking, he said, ""I don't need this!"" and hung up on me. more

Great Experience 6/12/2011

I would highly recommend this company, I did look at bad review and found completely opposite experience. I think that person had an ax to grind. I purchased a Mendota gas insert and although I did experience problems with the unit, Hampton Hearth returned all my call and was eager to make sure we were happy. When the unit did not perform properly, Hampton Hearth dealt with manufacturer direct and had a replacement installed and their men were always professionals! I would highly recommend this company and more local businesses could learn from their work ethic. more

Terrible experience 10/23/2008

Don't do it! This is a company run by unresponsive, irresponsible people! Took them forever to deliver my stove, and then they installed it incorrectly. They won't call you back either, by the way. Sure, they have nice stuff, but it's not worth it for someone to deal irresponsibly with gas! Dangerous, and bad business. Try Clayton Richards in Patchogue; when I had problems with my Southampton purchase, they were the only ones willing to help me out. God knows, the Southampton Hearth people didn't do a thing. more
