I have been in Atlanta for 5 years, and somehow have never heard of Hal's. My boyfriend took me there for Valentine's Day, and it could not have been more perfect. Besides being a little crowded, the atmosphere, from the lighting to the music, was great. Our server was amazing, and the filet was the best steak I have ever put in my mouth (with great mashed potatoes as well!). We will definitely be back at Hal's more often! Hal's hands down has the best filet in the city! I have eaten at all of the famous steak restaurants in Atlanta, and Hal's filet is the best! The service at Hal's is also uncomparable, everyone from the hostess, the General Manager, the bartenders, Hal himself and the waiters are extremely attentive, but not overbearing! The ambience is neiborhood restaurant meets 5 star stak house, with live music, a lively crowd at the bar, and a plethera of choices on the menu as well as nightly specials to wet your appetite for New Orleans style cuisine. Best kept secret in Atlanta - don't bother with Bones and Chops- best Filet and Rib Eye...period., I bring my clients there all the time who come to Atlanta and they can't believe they haven't been there before.Always call ahead for reservations for a good seat or do what we do is have cocktails ( bottles) and wait to be seated ( can take awile ) . If ever there were a prototypical steak house, this is the place. The restaurant's interior feels very much like a gentleman's club (not the strip club type) and the menu should appeal to the hearty pallate. Steak is the reason to go to Hal's. Hal's prides itself on it's Filet Mignon, and rightly so. What is billed as a 12 oz. Filet arrives at your table properly cooked and looking larger than its billing. It is absolutely scrumptious. I was disappointed in Hal's. I made reservations in advance for my fiancee's birthday...They put us in the middle of the smoking section. I asked the maitre d', he said, ""If you don't make a special request for non-smoking, that's where we put you."" They moved us to the smallest table in the place, next to the waiter's stand. We had 5 waiters on top of us the entire time. The oyster appetizer was delicious, but it came out so quickly I don't think it was ours. We ordered, and bang! it was on the table. The veal piccata was tough and salty. My fiancee's filet mignon was sub-par. We didn't even stay for dessert, we couldn't wait to leave. Best steaks in the World. I eat out 7 nights a week. I just recently found out about Hal's now I eat there 3 nights a week. Hal is the coolest host in the city. Pano's restaurants are great, but Hal owns the best steaks in Atlanta. more

Started our batchelor party with HUGE Filets, cooked to perfection with tasty side dishes and fantastic hor's d'ourves. Service was great! Top it off with some fine wine and a trip to the Cheetah and THERE is a great night! more
