Fresh, Hot Bread: Free Slices 4/28/2006

They don’t just give away free bread (with butter); they give away GOOD bread. I found out about Great Harvest by going to the food bank just off Sandpoint Way, between two of their branches (the second being on Lake City Way, to the north); this bakery is a regular contributor of freshly baked loaves. I used their bread to make toast and sandwiches for the kids I babysat, and they couldn’t get enough. more

Free = Perfection 4/4/2006

I come in looking for a loaf of bread? What do I get? Free bread (and butter! hooray!!) Sounds good to me. The bread here is baked lovingly and with perfect recipes. The hearty bread makes the ordinary, everyday sandwich amazing. They also offer a build-your-own sandwich option; the freshest ingredients are always used. Stop in and at least get something free why don't you! more

Good bread and sandwiches here, and sometimes free food! 3/12/2006

This bread and sandwich shop on Sand Point Way seems to be beloved by its community, with people frequently stopping in for a loaf of bread on the way home. You can often get a free bread sample; even more amazing, they sometimes give out free pie or cookies! (I know of 2 days in the past 4.5 months that this has happened.) I really like their food, but with a whole sandwich costing around $8, I can't often afford to eat lunch there. more

I love this place 11/22/2005

Every time that you go here they give you a free piece of fresh bread. If that is not enough to get you appetite, the smell of fresh baked bread will. With so many choices it will be hard, but normally I just go for the whole wheat. Every once in a while I will get a more gourmet loaf for dipping, also a good idea. Whatever you end up with in the end you will not be disappointed with. more

Wonderful Laurelhurst bakery 8/20/2005

When you're done exercising your credit card (or even if you're enlightened and pay cash for everything) over at City People's, stop by Great Harvest for a free slice of fresh warm bread to munch while you ponder the variety of tasty baked goods. Try the low carb bread even if you don't care about carbs. Great sandwiches, too. Beware - the coffee is HOT. Great Harvest participates in many good causes and donates a lot of their goods. Everything is good here. more
