Good - Not Just for Brunch Any More 6/11/2006

I was stuck in NYC (things could be worse) - the bridges and tunnels were backed up to midtown. I needed dinner and a way to kill an hour. I passed tons of pizza joints and bars with screaming sports fans (something called the world cup is going on, so I am told). I focused on Good - my NYC staple for great brunch. I had their steak, croquette, salad for $20. Service was (as always) spot on. The steak was full of flavor with a pesto-like sauce I used on the salad too. I am fussy about how my steak is done and they hit it dead center the first time. I was tempted to have dessert (they have hand made donuts and great hot chocolate) but I decided to be good - need to lose weight. Total bill, with generous tip - $25. Give it a shot. more

Great Brunch, Great Service, Great People 11/14/2005

I "discovered" Good back when it was called Campo. The owner changed the name because he felt Good was a better description of his restaurant. After eating here, I think he could have called it Great !! We go for brunch and have never been disappointed. There is a "south of the border" hint to the spices and flavors but the bite is never too strong - plenty of flavor, not too much heat. At brunch, they have a "fresh squeezed juice of the day". They cover all the bases on eggs, bacon and ham plus they usually have a killer special. Their coffee is first rate. Their breads are especially good and their service is attentive without being fussy. I like their pancakes and French toast, served with real maple syrup and butter. The not-so-secret treat here is the Mexican hot chocolate (Mmmmmm!) ordered with a side of hot, fresh orange donuts. Oh baby! This is one of the best brunch places in NYC - that just about says it all. more
