I and my whole family have done business with Dan and his mother (before his taking over the store) for over 20 years...I have always had good customer service and they have always bent over backwards to fill any request I have had. I am very happy to recommend Goleta Valley Optical to anyone I know. more

Terrible customer service 4/11/2012

Also very disappointed 7/27/2011

Had the same problem. Coating came off one pair of glasses after just over a year. Obviously defective. They refused to repair or replace saying manufacturers warranty ran out after one year. Not their problem! Eventually offered 35% discount off a new pair. No way I'll get ripped off again by these guys. They just lost a loyal, multi year customer to Costco when they could have made lifelong friend and advocate. Go figure! more

Disappointed 6/20/2011

The people here were extremely nice while I ordered 500 glasses loaded with all perks. But less then two years later, while on vacation, the coating came off part of my lenses. When I called to ask they be repaired I was told the warantee on my perks was not valid because of some detail they had forgotten to mention while I purchased my expensive glasses. The girl on the phone didn't even say ""I'm sorry."" I now have to throw the glasses away. Have never had this trouble with any other glasses--therefore I would question the quality of the lenses they are selling if I were a new customer. My glasses didn't even last 2 years and I wasn't rough on them. Ouch. 500 dollars. And no warning about warantees. more

customer service problems 10/8/2010

The service at Goleta Valley Optical used to be great, but things have changed recently. In July 2010, they took 8 days to make a pair of glasses they had promised in 3-5 days. Then, when the glasses were stolen in September 2010, they took THREE WEEKS to replace them again after promising 3-5 days. I believe the manager is well-intentioned and competent but there are new employees who don't sufficiently respect their customers and understand that they are dealing with what is essentially medical equipment. more

The typical place for frames 9/5/2005

These guys do the normal things w/ frames and eye exams, I found it to be no different than any other place. I would suggest this place no differently than any other place. The eye examiner is nice and will make good conversation to avoid a boringly dreadful visit. Good place! more
