Restaurant Gouging at it's Finest! 6/25/2010

Restaurant gouging at it's finest! We went for Mother's Day brunch with 8 adults and 6 children. This restaurant is pricey but wait till you hear this experience! My husband asked our ""rude"" waitress if the champagne was included. She said yes and would ""keep it flowing"". Upon hearing that, 6 of us ordered mimosas. The brunch was good, however, our sever was not accommodating to the simplest requests. The children's menu did not cater to the likes of a child. I know this restaurant isn't a place for children, but did I mention it was Mother's Day?! When I requested simple substitutions such as fruit, the server said no and brought artichoke souffle. What kid eats artichoke souffle??? She basically said this was it and too bad. Throughout our brunch, she topped off full glasses of champagne going around the table pouring directly from the bottle. Not once did she bring a new glass from the bar. Cons: ripped off! more

Worst restuarant EVER!!!! 3/11/2008

Went on Valentines Day. After 30 minutes we were given a piece of bread and water. After another 30 minutes a manager asked if our order had been taken, we said no, so she wrote down the order. It was a 4 course prefixed menu for the holiday. The first course arrived after 20 minutes. Inbetween the 1 and second course the host came over and apoligized for the wait and said that he would comp off one of the per person charges. He then went outside, met a girl who was waiting and proceeded to make an obvious coke purchase. After he finished his coke he came back to check on us. The second course was a spicy shrimp lime soup. It had obviously been sitting around a while because it was bitter. It tasted like soap. We then received our 3rd course which was an over cooked salmon dish. The server finally came and asked if we would like anything else and we said well the 4th course (dessert) would be nice. She apoligized and went to make our desserts. I had ordered a coffee which she brought before the dessert. My girlfriend asked for a coffee as well but only if it was fresh. The server said she would go see how much coffee was left in the urn, if it was almost empty she would make more. She left my (old burned) coffee for me with cream and sugar but NO SPOON. She made a new batch of coffee and brought my girlfriend a fresh cup with our desserts. I asked if I could have some fresh coffee and a spoon. We got the check it it was not comped at all. I waited 20 minutes or so but no one came by so I subtracted the comp amount and left cash for the rest. 2 1/2 hours for dinner. RIDICULOUS. All this was after I called to complain about our previous visit. This was one of our favorite restaurants but we will never go back. They should be embarrassed. Visit at your own risk. Pros: None horrible Cons: everything horrible more

great food 7/16/2006

The food was exceptional, I had the halibut with capers and it turned out fantastic. The halibut was perfectly cooked, and the grilled zucchini was uniquely wonderful. The service was a little slow but going to a restaurant like this you want to take your time. Pros: great food and ambience more

Wait was a bit long even though the resturant wasn't that busy. I was promised prime brisket that melts in your mouth and not only did it not melt...it was chewy and dry. not satisfied at all. more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE 2/18/2004

I had one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life at this stripmall ""eatery."" After making a reservation for two, the rude hostess/general manager sat my girlfriend and me at a table for 8 and told us to ""get comfy."" Our four courses were served at the speed of evolution. The pasta was served cold and the steak was fatty. Pros: nice valet attendants Cons: , service, setting more

Don't Tell Everyone 2/9/2003

Alan Greeley, owner of Costa Mesa's best kept secret, is unquestionably Orange County's finest home-grown chef and delightful host. An extensive, value-laden of modestly marked up wines is a precursor to an eclectic menu that ranges from mac n' cheese (with or without truflles), to a constantly changing list of specials including last evening's pomano and miyogi steak. Try the red-hot duck tacos or fresh oysters as an appetizer. Close with a range of desert wines and simple but good deserts. Pros: Changing menu, Extensive wine list, Service Cons: Early closing, Occasional parking more
