I am so excited to finally find a good Caribbean restaurant in the Triangle area! Golden Krust (part of a restaurant chain started in New York) offers standard Caribbean fare (Stew Chicken, Rice and Peas, Curry Chicken, Curry Goat, Oxtails), in addition to other pan-Caribbean items not found in other restaurants in the area (fresh baked hard dough bread, beef patties, ackee and saltfish, and roti). For those foodies that remember Trinibago restaurant , the 2 chefs responsible for the food Trinibago was known for are now the main chefs for Golden Krust. I love the general menu (especially the oxtail stew), but I get the mild beef patties if I want something small (or really cheap). Items don't go above $12 or so and they even have a $2.99 ""Recession special"" that is the curry or stew chicken with any of the sides! The atmosphere is nice- it is bright, open, and cheerful. You can sit down and eat, but it is designed ""cafeteria-style"" so a lot of people do take-out. Free wifi, though, so I usually stay and get work done. Located in the North Duke Shopping Center (Roses, Blockbuster). Come and support this great restaurant!
