Reasonable and healthy 12/22/2008

Healthy daily kitchen with reasonable price!\r It is possible to try expensive restaurants paying more than 50 dollers for delicious Chinese dishes. I have really enjoyed gorgeous dished in big restaurant in Peking, Shanghai, Kanton and Hong Kong paying more than $200 per parson when I travelled around China several times. \r So, it should not compare the taste of dishes in the Golden Dragon Restaurant (Buffet $5.95 for lunch and $6.95 for dinner) in Portland with those in Big Restaurants in Mainland China and Hong Kong. \r I am using the Golden Dragon for my lunch almost everyday weekdays to take necessary nutrition for my life making the breakfast and supper lighter. It is very good that we can choose any food we can and want to eat from about 30 kinds of cookings.\r Even I did not recommend the tastes of dishes in the Golden Dragon, I have several experiences of dissapointment for tastes of dishes served in other Chinese Restaurants in the China Town of Portland paying at least $6 to $7 dollers for the todays menu. The dishes in the Golden Dragon are better than or comparable to those ones served in some other restaurants in the China Town.\r We can enjoy chinese cooking in the Golden Dragon with an inexpensive charge.\r I recommend the Golden Dragon to people who can control their appetite to keep helthy body and life. Pros: Price Cons: Service more

Absolutely the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten 2/7/2008

I like to experiment and try new things for lunch. I took a shot on this place and only hope I survive. I tried small portions of many dishes and without exception they were all nearly inedible. The meat was gristly, fatty and had very strange aftertastes. The hot and sour soup was foul. Everything just tasted like it was made with fillers and cheap ingredients, and much of it tasted like it was old and on the verge of going bad. The decor and cleanliness were pretty awful as well, which normally I don't care about if the food is good, but in this case it only exacerbated the depressing experience. This place has made me reevaluate my desire to experiment with new lunch venues. I hate to criticize a place so badly, but I wish I had a read a review like this and saved my stomach this experience. Cons: the food, the decor more

Oddly ""unique""... but in a bad way 1/17/2008

So a friend and I went to go to the Golden Dragon Chinese restaurant today. At first, I was hesitant - we opened the door and saw a long staircase upwards. So, yeah, first of all this place is not wheelchair accessible.\r \r The prices are accessible, with it being around $6 for an all-you-can-muster-down buffet. But that's about the best thing going...\r \r First of all, holy cow the place is pretty big. And like, giant big. Unnecessary big? There's also no music of any kind... so while eating I was treated to the sounds of the homeless scarfing down friend donuts and the clinking and clanking of silverware to teeth. Let's play some Chinese music in here, come on now!\r \r The food? Was food. Not good. Not sitting well in the ole' tummy too. The rice & noodles are adequate. The meat had a layer of weirdly tasting stuff like it's an extra layer that compensated for lack of meat.\r \r But the coffee was good. Pros: Service was nice. The lady upfront was very nice and bused tables. THE COFFEE Cons: Everything but the lady and the coffee more

Price isn't everything 1/17/2008

It's cheap and kind of a strange place. The atmosphere is fine I guess for what it is, although they could use some light music. The food is not that good, and I ate there about an hour ago and still feel it = yuk. I won't go back there again, but it is the only place around this area that you can eat that much for so little money. Pros: price Cons: everything but price more

Would not recommend 9/25/2007

Typical Chinese buffet.....maybe a little worse. Very good price though. Most buffets don't include your drink and this one does. Would not go there again. Pros: Cheap! Cons: Quality of Food more

Inexpensive good buffet 10/11/2006

OK, it has crummy ambience. But, the stuff on the buffet is always hot and fresh. It's popular because it's downtown and you can't beat the price. There might be an occasional crazy homeless person, but isn't that true about almost every restaurant within a six-block radius of Burnside? I particularly like their General Tso's chicken and their Hot & Sour soup. Give it a try! Pros: Price, Volume, Food Cons: No ambience, downtown parking. more

Cheap Eats, Good Selection 3/10/2003

The $4.95 lunch buffet is one of the best for the price. Chow Mein, Peking Pork, General Tso's Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Broccoli Beef, Hot and Sour Soup, Egg Rolls, Pot Sticker, more. There's even red jello for the very brave. Not big on ambience (at all), but easy on the wallet and good quality food. more
