i will never cook a thanksgiving or christmas dinner again. we have ALWAYS traveled to my parents in louisiana and eaten at ryan's -- kids love it. tradition and all (ugh . . .). with my oldest not being able to go, my p's came here. ryan's being too far, we opted for golden corral. omg. everything tasted homemade. green bean casserole, roles, cornbread, moist turkey, EVERYTHING you would have made at home . . . and, a grocery bill of -- AT LEAST -- $400.00, not to mention the cooking, cleaning, blah, blah, blah. if we don't go there, i will be ordering their take-out dinner. it was THAT good. the dressing was okay -- but that's always something every family has an opinion on (mine included, my mom's is the best . . .). deviled eggs, fresh salad (with chicken, fresh-grated cheese . . .), snow white potatoes, squishy rolls, corn bread, cheddar biscuits . . . you could never have put this together for the price. and there's plenty of 'kiddy' stuff to boot. creamy mac and cheese, pizza . . . for christmas, i will order the dinner and force my mother to make dressing . . . that's it! i have never had restaurant food taste this homemade. and if you take out -- you still have the leftovers. did i mention the chocolate cake? we never got chocolate cake on thanksgiving(!!) . . .
