So I'm trying to compose myself enough to write this review. My dear boyfriend visited Gold Town and spoke to BJ the owner. After going through a really hard 3 yr divorce our funds were limited. Non the less I ended up spending over 9 thousand dollars. My boyfriend purchased an engagement ring with a solitaire diamond & several small diamonds down the side. BJ told my boyfriend over & over what a GREAT deal he was getting for the monies being spent. I paid $6000.00 dollars cash as BJ told him if he paid cash he would not charge him tax, (shady I say) But my boyfriend did so. He asked for an appraisal and receipt to which he still to date has not received one.
I was given my ring & loved it, however I am very hard on my jewelry and mentioned I would like a thicker/wider band. My boyfriend told me to bring it back as BJ assured him he would stand behind his work and if I wanted something different, he would not mind changing it out. When I visited the store I was not comfortable at all. You have to be buzzed in. There was nothing in the jewelry cases. His store was not pleasing at all to say the least but I stayed positive. I spoke to BJ myself and explained I wanted something thicker for a band. I explained to him, I wanted something I would want to wear for the rest of my life. After he spoke over me for several minutes, he agreed. I actually showed him a picture of a ring & band that I loved on my iphone. He said, yes I can make that for you, I am an excellent jeweler and no one can make jewelry like myself. He asked me to email the picture to him as I did the same day. I visited the store again a week later to view the wax up of the ring. I was a little skeptical as it did not look symmetrical nor did the prongs look even. I mentioned this to him which I was then told, oh that is because it is just in wax. The ring I ended up with was cut with lead but stamped PLAT, the diamonds were not symmetrical. I returned to ask for a refund as he states, Love it or Leave it! This business owner is unethical & RUDE!
