TERRIBLE service 10/16/2011

We went to Giorgio's for a nice meal that was not too pricey. We made reservations a week before, but when we arrived we waited for 20 minutes both to get a drink and for the manager to offer us a crappy seat in the front of the restaurant, apart from where the dining area was (there were only two tables in the front bar area we were offered). We asked how long it would be until a seat in the dining hall came up and was told 15 minutes. After another 20 - 25 minutes, we were taken to our table, which was placed too close to the table behind it. Every time someone needed to pass though, my seat would get bumped (every couple of minutes). I finally decided to say something after my seat was literally dragged two feet by someone trying to get by (it wasn't there fault, it was just too tight). When I spoke to the manager he blamed my group because we gave up the first table! Unbelievabe. While the rest of the service was pretty bad (took us a good half hour to have our order taken), it did not bother me as much as the manager's attitude. The food was good, but did not compensate for the rest of the issues we had. more

Terrific Dinner 1/26/2009

Had dinner here last Saturday(4 people) and was extremely happy with the experience. The food was very good, the service was friendly and efficient.Really good wine list.Lots of interesting selections and many in the $40 to $50 range.Everything on the menu sounded appealing and the food prices were all reasonable. more

Dependable Neighborhood Spot 1/23/2009

I live in the neighborhood and this is a great go-to spot. Very good food and very friendly management and staff. They have a wonderfully stocked bar with great wine and bourbons. And the food is consistently good. I always love the scallops and the bolognese is also wonderful. I've been eating here for over five years and have never had a bad experience. Pros: Great go-to, always dependable more

The meal arrived 1.5 hours after we ordered and when it finally arrived, there was a long thick black hair in the middle of my risotto. Very unpleasant way to ruin a dinner... more

Amazing Restaurant Week Experience! 7/22/2008

I went to Giorgio's of Gramercy today for lunch during restaurant week. The experience was great! For only 24 dollars, we were offered a choice of cesar salad or crab cakes to start, fillet mignon, lobster ravioli, or shrimp and scallop risotto as the main course, and an assortment or sorbets, gelato, or a peach tart for dessert. Every single plate was awesome, and everyone got something different. The waiter was also very friendly and attentive, and gave us good recommendations on how the meat should be cooked etc. I am definitely going back! Pros: Food, wait staff, price Cons: I can see why people commented on the kitchen being too close to the tables, but besides that, nothing! more

Terrible ambience 9/15/2007

We had reservations for 8:30 pm but the table they gave us was literally right next to the kitchen. When we asked if we could switch to a better, empty table further from the kitchen, we were told that the table was reserved. Pros: Good food Cons: Terrible ambience, overpriced, loud, small portion size, kitchen visible more

Best Italian Food I've had so far! 3/20/2007

I went to Giorgio's for lunch today, with a co-worker. The atmosphere is a bit romantic, but we both enjoyed the coziness...I enjoyed how quiet it was. Going for lunch is great, even though the setting has a ""romantic"" feel, it was quiet and cozy enough to get a break from the work day. I recommend eating here because the prices are reasonable, the service was Awesome and the Food/Quality of the food was great! I love Italian food, but I have never tasted food this good I give it a perfect 10. We were in and out in an hour, but we weren't rushed. We spent less than $30 (not including our TIP) and we were full!! Pros: The Food more

Party of 18 and service was unreal, i think the waiter might have been a robot on speed 2/6/2007

we went with a group of friends for another's b-day, there were 15 of us (which guaranteed the 18 %) but the waiter, bartender, busboys, host acted as though we wrote reviews for the newspaper. Usually with big groups they brush you off knowing their gonna get their tip. This was such a pleasant surprise. Food was very very very good. musebouche, oysters, bucatini with rabbit (which was super tender and delicious), a full wrack (i know citysearch censors this stuff but im just decribing lamb) of lamb, b-day cake and wine. all was very good and the price was spot on. One person in our group felt the steak was a little under cooked, they couldn?t have been more helpful. Overall a great find. WE will be back. more

A True Gem!!! 10/21/2005

This is by far one of my favorite places in NYC. I have been going for more than 5 years and have NEVER had a bad meal. The food is wonderful as is the service. The decor is nice, but not to fancy...you'd be fine in jeans or a suit. The menu changes with the seasons, so there is always something new to try...the penne with veal is one of my all time favorite pastas! more

My Absolute Favorite Standby! 9/29/2005

This place is the best and truly unique for a few reasons: The service is super friendly and attenitve, no attitude here. The menu is full of unusual flavor combinations and the menu and wine list changes seasonally to showcase the freshest ingredients. THey pay attention to details, they make homemade graham crackers to accent their Smores Bread Pudding, most places would never bother with such extra touches but pride is evident in the quality. And the value is unbeatable. $25 prixe pixe 7 days a week is a fabulous deal but you can't go wring here no matter what you choose. Pros: service, quality, value more

My Go To Restaurant 3/28/2005

Excellent food, relaxing, versatile and stylish atmosphere, friendly service, no attitude, and the prices reasonable in light of all of this. Truly my go-to restaurant...it never disappoints. The circle of regulars expanded around me while living in NYC. more

Best Burger 6/17/2004

I have been a Giorgio's customer for 8 years, both restaurant catering, and they just keep getting better. The food is always great - flavor, quantity, variety & value. The service is attentive, friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. I have introduced many people over the years and none have been disappointed. Although it's not their speciality, Giorgio's makes the best burger I've ever had; its flavorful, well seasoned & juicy. It's so big that for me it's two meals. A great value. Pros: Excellent food, Great service, Reasonable prices more

WOW! 5/22/2003

I found this place 8 mths ago and have never been disappointed. Most recently, I took my boyfriend there for his bday dinner and the service was amazing. The food was excellent. The wine was excellent. The timing perfect. We had a wonderful evening....thanks!!! Pros: Affordable, Romantic, Excellent service more

What a find! 3/5/2003

Great place for food and conversation. The chilean sea bass was great. My friend had the risotto, which was also excellent. I would highly recommend Giorgio's for dates and freindly get- togethers where good food and conversation are had very easily. Pros: inexpensive, good menu variety Cons: too warm more

Good Food, Great Service 2/7/2003

Overall, Giorgio's was a very enjoyable experience. It's not a huge place, but the tables are arranged such that you're guranteed your privacy. Very clean, rather romantically lit. We were seated promptly, and the service was attentive but not at all intrusive the whole way through. Our dinner for two lasted 3 hours (as we wanted it to), and never once did we feel rushed to finish. The food was good: my chicken was tender and juicy and perfectly cooked. However, the au gratin potatoes were seasoned a little too zestfully. Some may enjoy being overwhelmed by their sides, but not me. Still, however, they were tasty and I finished them all. Entrees between $17-22, wine list limited for wines under $50. If you're thinking about Georgio's, I highly recommend it. Pros: Inexpensive Food, Great Service Cons: Over-seasoned food, Expensive Wines more

1st class service and food for a steal 11/14/2002

I had the greatest dining experience at Giorgio's. The wait staff was amazing. I felt I was in a 5 star restaurant with reasonable prices. The wait staff was sooooooo accomidating, food extraordinary, wine list out of this world--what more can I say!!!!!! Pros: Staff the best, Great price, Superior Food/Service more

Why isn't there any reviews!!! 7/26/2002

Giorgio's is a very nice place for a group of people to go dining. I took my girlfriend for her birthday dinner, and we were happy, but a little disappointed as well. The waiter was not enjoying himself, or even attempting to converse with us. The atmosphere was wonderful, but towards the end of the dinner, and as it got later, the restaurant became loud and obnozious. It was hard to have a normal conversation with the noise and the close tables. But the food was good, and overall the experience did end up very nice. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Neighborhood Cons: Noisy, Cramped more

  • In Short
This neighborhood restaurant serves something to satisfy Gramercy's every mood. Craving Italian? A classic penne Bolognese should do the trick. Feeling a little more highbrow?...
