Sushi without an attitude 2/15/2010

Ginza is one of those hole-in-the-wall kind of restaurants that you might not take a second look at. But once you go inside, the experience is totally worth it. The sushi menu is great and the service doesn't have any of the snobby, trendy attitudes that you might find at other sushi restaurants. Best of all, the prices are reasonable and the place is friendly. Ginza is a great lunch place, so if you're going during the week be ready for a crowd, but if you get a chance to stop by you won't be disappointed. Pros: Great sushi, good prices Cons: Can get crowded more

Food is awesome and costumer service is top of the line 12/15/2009

We fell in love with this place the first time we went its our favorite sushi restaurant in the city... This place is not for the trendy ones, but for those who like to sit down and have dinner or lunch on a relaxed atmosphere. Sushi is of good quality, prices are average, and service is courteous and quick. Highly recommend... Pros: Great ambience, and great sushi quality more

Great Food and Service 3/12/2009

Great sushi and even better service. I came in simply to place a to go order and sat at a table watching one of the TVs while they prepared my order. They brought me water, and apologized for the wait, which was all of 5-6 minutes. Needless to say I was very impressed with the attentiveness for just a to go order. The patrons dining were also receiving prompt attention and service. I work in the area and will definitely return. Pros: Price, Service, Food Cons: Busy Parking Lot more

Great sushi and outstanding customer service! Ms. Karen NEVER forgets a face, and goes out of her way to accomodate any special requests. I highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Great sushi and OUTSTANDING customer service Cons: limited parking more

Always Fantastic! 9/30/2005

Ginza is our favorite! My whole family agrees it is the best, freshest sushi in town and also the most fairly priced. It seems to be family-run and the same staff has been in there for the past couple years- a very good sign. Some of our must-haves are the Ginza roll, clear seafood soup, and tempura yellowtail roll. The scene is welcoming and relaxed and the staff is prompt. Traditions are kept such as the warm hand towels the minute you sit down. Everything is delicious- you definitely need to go! Pros: Fresh, Great Price, Good Portions more

Ginz-tastic! 8/8/2005

I am a regular at Ginza an think it is the best place to get sushi in Houston if you are looking for quality sushi, good service, and most importantly - authenticity! This is the only place I know of where you can get miso ramen! This is the best ramen in town. I recommend the spicy tuna rolls, negi-hamachi rolls, peppered tuna sashimi, and their sea eel is always good. Pros: good food, good service, good sushi! Cons: limited seating more

old is not good in sushi 5/27/2005

I stayed away for 6 months and gave it another try, but it just falls short. This restuarant certainly doesn't justify a ranking in the top 20 sushi bars in Houston. Pros: busy street, not crowded, some sushi is good Cons: , small portions, not friendly more

Family owned 5/5/2005

Mother and son own this tiny restaurant. The sushi was amazing! Fresh and delish. The Miso soup was good, and the service was outstanding. Very, very nice people. Kindof a homey feel. I will definately return. Pros: Sushi, good service, hot towels Cons: pricey, low non sushi items, small more

Ginza is the BEST!!!! 10/24/2003

I love Ginza - the fish is the freshest, most delectable I have ever tasted. The salmon sashimi is sweet and fresh, to die for, and the spicy tuna rolls are incomparable. The Rainbow Rolls are bigger, better constructed and pack more flavor than any other rainbow roll I've had in my life. Portions are very generous, which is why it's a good value for absolutely superior sushi. Ifyou take someone to only one sushi restaurant in Houston, take them to Ginza! I've had almost everything onthe menu and have only been thrilled. I cannoteven go to other sushi restaurants anymore - I'm always disappointed because nothing compares to Ginza. Marvin's fantastic, and the service has always been great. Seating at the sushi bar is more casual, while the dining ambience at the tables is very nice. Go to Ginza - you will never want any other sushi in Houston! Pros: freshest sashimi, best sushi in Houston, Marvin Cons: nothing, nothing, and nothing!!! more

lots of choices 8/14/2003

Ginza has the biggest appetizer menu I've ever seen. I highly recommend their pepper tuna sashimi and their noodles (udons). The service is very attentive although there are only two or three waitresses at night. They also have tatami rooms that can accomodate big parties. If you want good food with a great ambiance, go to Ginza. Pros: ambiance, awesome service more

world class sushi 3/6/2003

The sushi was impeccable. The main menu has the range of sushi, sashimi, tempura, udon, and the largest array of appetizers I have ever seen. The sushi and rolls come in large portions along with friendly staffs, and a lovely atmopshere. Definately a place to visit for sushi lovers. Pros: Food, Scene, Service more

For lovers of raw fish!! 2/17/2003

In short - if you like to eat a lot of raw fish, GINZA has the freshest, largest portions in the city. I won't even eat at Miyako anymore. The sashimi at Ginza was terrific, and the nigiri pieces were overly-large and everything was VERY fresh. The service is excellent, they are friendly and attentive (although the check was slow in coming) Pros: GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE, Easy Parking more

ummmmmmm 1/31/2003

I am japanese and before I went to GINZA I was so excited about it. Their atmosphere was exactly japanese rural restaurant!!! Well I ordered sushi, they were not better than I had thought. And my friend ordered tempura , the tempura butter was greasy and I thought they are little bit too much tempura butter. when you go to the japanese restaurant, I would recommend that you try coco's, which is on the Richmond.I am sure Coco's has better sushi and tempura. more

best sushi in Houston 8/8/2002

Ginza's interior isn't fancy, but don't let that fool you. The sashimi is so fresh and tasty, and the portions are really big. The price is a bit high but you're paying for quality sushi not quantity. more
