Gillece employs sales reps, not plumbers. 2/14/2012

Gillece rips people off constantly. Do not call them! Their motto is to replace instead of repair. You need a new handle for your toilet? You need a new toilet for 2,000. You need something for your furnace? Time to buy a brand new one for 10,000!!! Gillece has sales people, not plumbers. Google ""Gillece complaints"" and listen to some of the stories. more

Hard to justify a $5000 plumbing bill. 2/2/2012

Our regular plumber is a one man company and he was on vacation so I called Gillice to replace a flush assembly on a 12 year old toilet (ancient right?) and to replace an 18 inch section of drain pipe beneath the bathtub that had a small leak in it. I was told they'd never find the flush valve for that toilet so they'd need to replace the whole toilet. It took me one phone call to find the valve 3 miles from my house for $50. They also said they couldn't replace the one section of pipe so they'd have to replace the whole length of pipe (about 8 feet).Hmmmm...I'm sensing a trend here. Surprised it wasn't suggested to bulldoze the house and build a new one. Total estimate $4000 to $5200!!! When we told the tech to get lost he got pissy and questioned why we even called him to come out. Certainly not to rebuild the entire plumbing system. Call Gillice and then call the police. more

Try Anyone BUT Gillece 12/28/2011

I was out of town and our furnace went out. My wife called Gillece and they came out and said we need could do 3 things. 1. Band Aid fix the current furnace for $1250 2. Replace most of the furnace $3000 3. They recommended a NEW furnace for $6000 I got a 2nd opinion and the serviceman said I needed a small part for my SIX YEAR OLD FURNACE. Cost $125!!!! These guys must make one hell of a commission and they give the industry a very bad name. more

Call Gillece!! 4/5/2011

I was skeptical about calling Gillece with all of the negative reviews that were posted, but I gave them a shot and was pleasantly suprised. Everyone that I dealt with from Gillece was very polite and professional and I never felt pressured to do anything. The serviceman Jim was a true down to earth Pittsburgher that I trust. I will highly recommend this company to anyone and am very happy with the service that they provided and the prices charged. Great value in my opinion. more

I Love HOT Radiators!!! 2/7/2011

Called several companies when our boiler went out. Gillece was the only one promised same day and they lived up to their promise. Since we moved into our house over 15 years ago, we have been constantly complaining about the radiators in the family room that never seem to heat up. Ron from Gillece was checking out the piping after getting the thermocuple replaced and discovered that there was a valve that was choking off the flow to the family room that he opened and instantly we had a wonderful warmth in the room that we never thought possible. OMG!!! Can't believe that we lived this way for 15 years!! \r more

Very Professional - Class Act 11/9/2010

This is a class act, very professional, prompt, clean cut and they do nice work but... they're really expensive! I had two hours of work done (replacing a crawlspace turnoff, a dripping shower, and a broken line to an outside line. It came to over $500 when it was probably only $150 in parts). They did do a great job of confirming appointments, sending via e-mail a confirmation of service call, and following up but shop around and you can probably find somebody to do the job for less. They did show up within a few hours of setting the appointment and they did give me the quote up front, so it's my own fault for agreeing to the work. more

Gillece 9/8/2010

worst rip off I have seen in years.\r Try to sell you an over priced new that can be fixed rather than replaced more

Scam 5/19/2010

They wouldn't tell me the cost of a new water heater until they came to my house and charged me a $75 fee. The rep had a book that listed the prices, which they clearly could have quoted me over the phone. Turns out it was $3000 for a new tank. I had another plumber quote me $600 for the same tank over the phone. And I was still out the $75 just to learn that Gillece is a rip-off. To me that's a scam. Pros: friendly staff Cons: scam, expensive more

Great 4/9/2010

Great experience with this company. Good service and reasonable. Called Gillece last Friday to come check our air conditioner. We tried to start our central air for the first time this year and it didn’t work. Glad we got this done early, now we are good for the year! Pros: great service Cons: none more

Why do so many reviews sound like ads? 3/23/2010

Why do all of their many negative ads read like they were written by real people, but the positive ads sound like they are expertly written to include details about their latest special and a nice story about emergency service or treating seniors well? I highly doubt that these are real reviews based on how many bad reviews are out there on other sites and complaints to the BBB against them. They tried to rip me off for thousands, buyer beware and do more research! Pros: Creative marketing sucks you in Cons: Rip offs, high prices, scams, threats more

Savior in the Snow 2/15/2010

This winter has been very trying, but thanks to Gillece, we are safe and warm. Our power went out last Friday with the big snow. We were without power until Monday, and when the power did come back on, the furnace crapped out!!! After days without heat or electricity it was very disappointing to still have no furnace. Gillece to the rescue!! Called for service at 8 PM requesting service. Techncian John showed up around 10:30 and rescued us. I didn't realize until after he had the heat back on that his truck was parked on the next street behind our house, about a 1/4 of a mile away. I would like to highly recommend this company and the heroic efforts of their employees like John that went above and beyond to help us in our time of need. I am a customer for life!! Pros: Dedicated Employees more

This site is BS 1/19/2010

Every time I write the negative and true review of Gillece Plumbing it mysteriously disappears when I check back to see if its still there. There are MANY negative reviews and you only print and keep the positive ones. CitySearch is a lame, dishonest site. I work in a field where I encounter many people. I will spread the word not to use your site. more

Got the job done the same day, and without much ado. 12/21/2009

I hired Sears to install my washer/dryer and their employees seem to have done something incorrectly because shortly afterwards, the Kohler body spray faucets in my shower started malfunctioning.\r \r I called at least 4 plumbers in the phone book until I gave up and took my search online. I called several plumbers listed there too and nobody even knew what I was talking about until I called Gillece.\r \r The guy they sent out has got to be one of the most knowledgeable plumbers I've ever met. Not only did he pinpoint the exact problem as soon as he saw my faucets, he was professional enough to get the job done the same day, and without much ado, and for very little money.\r \r more

Gillece is By Far The BEST in Town!! 12/11/2009

We have done business with many other heating and air conditioning companies over the years and were never really quite happy until we contacted Gillece plumbing and heating. They are always very prompt, friendly and extremely professional and their techs are absolutley the best in the business. Our favorite tech is Albert, he is very smart and always finds the problem and makes it right the first time. My advice is to forget the rest and call the best! Gillece plumbing and heating.?\r more

Just Amazing!? 11/21/2009

Amazing customer service, the work done on time when they said, and excellent at following up and letting you know step by step what is going on. We had major sewage and sidewalk repairs and cannot say enough about this company.? more

Amazing 11/18/2009

We are seniors and have had many plumbing service calls over the years. I am amazed!! Gillece was wonderful. The workman took the most inexpensive approach to finding my glasses which I flushed down the toilet, (they fell in). He got the line clear in minutes. He was on time, very personable and I will recommend him to as many people as I can. He was reasonable in price, knew exactly what he was doing and cleaned up afterward. You have our vote, Gillece for the best plumber yet. Many thanks.? more

Great service on a weekend 10/31/2009

I called Gillece on a Sunday afternoon. It was my daughter’s 7th B-Day and our whole house was stopped up and the main bathroom was overflowing. I was in a panic with a whole house full of moms and kids. I called at least 10 other companies with no answer or answering services taking messages. One of the moms suggested that I “Call Gillece” and to my surprise, the office was staffed just like it was a regular weekday. The dispatcher assured me he would have a plumber out within an hour. Steve from Gillece showed up at our door within 30 minutes and gave us what he called “temporary relief” but what I call savior. Only charged $99 for the service. First thing Monday morning, they came back and hooked us up with a permanent fix for the problem. Will definitely call again if we have problems and recommend highly. Pros: Fast response and cheap more

Gillece free work guarantee is for real! 10/20/2009

Gillece lived up to their same day or free guarantee. We had another contractor remove 5 of our radiators over the summer to do some remodeling with new baseboards, flooring, etc. When it came time for them to reinstall them, they said that they didn't do that kind of work, and that the boiler would need to be bled and that we should call a plumber to reinstall them. We put it off all summer, and when it started to get cold over the last week, we decided to call Gillece to get the radiators reinstalled. The bad news was that they called us two times to reschedule us because they were busy and they said that they had a couple guys out with the flu. The good news is that when they finally came out to do the work, THEY DID IT FOR FREE! Absolutely zero dollars out of my pocket. They were professional in performing the work, and did the work with the same care that I would have expected if I were paying full price for the work. Everything is working great and I will highly recommend Gillece for their outstanding service and great guarantee.\r Nice to know that it is not just an advertising gimmick, its for real. Pros: Free work on my boiler and radiators!! Cons: Rescheduled two times more

$99 Sewer Cleaning 10/7/2009

Great customer service, very funny guys, easy to work with.... They told me the exact problem and showed me what to do and what not to do. *Note to self: Never use Drain-O. It's bad for the drains....eats away at everything, INCLUDING the pipes, leading to larger problems and ultimately more money.* \r \r Why didn't I give them 5 stars, you ask? Well, this is the first time I've had to call a plumber, so I don't know what constitutes as a 5-star rating. Plus, they left a little mess for me to clean up. Nothing a bath towel or a Sham-WOW couldn't do though! Pros: Great customer service - right on time more

Honest and up-front with my elderly parents 9/22/2009

I was called at work by my mother telling me that she had a plumber at her home telling her that she needed a new water heater. My mother and father are in their eighties and have been making some very ""questionable"" financial decisions recently. I was very relieved (and quite frankly stunned) that they called me to tell me that they were considering buying a lifetime warranted water heater from Gillece and that the plumber in their home actually suggested that they call me to make sure that they were making a good decision. Needless to say, they did not need a lifetime warranty on anything, but I was very impressed with the fact that the plumber recognized that my Mom and Dad were not at their best when it came to financial decisions and suggested to them that they include me in the decision. Thankfully I was given the opportunity to review the different options for water heater replacement and make a decision to just choose the lowest warranty option since we are planning to move Mom and Dad in with us. I don't beleive all of the negative reviews that are posted on this review website. They must be being posted by either a jealous competitor or a disgruntled employee, because my experience with this company has been completely the opposite. Gillece was not cheap, but I wouldn't trust anyone else to deal with my vulnerable elderly parents and I will highly recommend them to anyone that asks. Pros: Honest and caring company Cons: A bit expensive but worth it more
