Great neighborhood bar, good food at reasonable prices. This is Atlanta's Cheers bar!

Gilbert's has lost a lot. Not sure what changed, but the food was far from what it used to be. Just not very good. Service was great, and that makes up for part of the aggravation...

Not as good as before... 1/3/2011

Gilbert's has lost a lot. Not sure what changed, but the food was far from what it used to be. Just not very good. Service was great, and that makes up for part of the aggravation caused by the poor quality of the meal. I'm not planning on returning any time soon. more

very homey place 6/24/2010

the atmosphere here is very homey and I love the food. However, the last time I was there it took a really long time to get served. The place was about half full, but the starters took more than 10 minutes to come out. the steak was fabulous. will definitely be back more

Great atmosphere, incredible food 1/19/2010

The food at gilberts is incredible!! The pork, the steak, the fish and the soups!!! I feel so comfortable here as well which is a credit to Sean and Gilbert for making a place that welcomes and appreciates their customers. Pros: food and staff Cons: only con is when it is cold and the window can't be open more

Consistent quality of food and service. 10/7/2009

A meal at Gilbert's is a refreshing, pleasant and tasteful experience. Whether eating the appetizers or the delicious main courses, each dish is ample, savoury and sure to please. This restaurant presents food in a well-prepared manner, without pretension, and always with fresh and delicious tastes. The meat loins are superb, as well as the more tradtional Mediterranean dishes. Tiramisu here is a special treat, also. Gilbert's can be counted on to provide a good dining experience in an unassuming but pleasant atmosphere and a place where good, reasonably priced food will be served to you by a gractious and knowledgeable wait staff. Pros: Simple but quality cuisine, well served and prepared. Cons: Smallish table surfaces. more

A Lunch For All Seasons 10/4/2009

It took us two years talking about how we should try out Gilbert's. Eventually we did, celebrating my better half's birthday. The only thing we regretted was that we waited so long (she blamed me, of course). We now consider ourselves (newbie) regulars. The food is excellent and the service is friendly, which is perfect for a neighborhood restaurant. Pros: Fresh Food Nicely Served Cons: None so far more

One of my favourite places to dine 6/19/2009

Have celebrated both mine and my partners birthday here for the last 4 years. In addition we are frequent patrons for a quick drink before heading over to Blake's, Flying Biscuit, Nickiemoto's or Zocalo. Eventually we always end up back here at Gilberts to have our final drink(s) of the evening. Great place, great atmosphere, great all around. Pros: Great location, great food, great service, great drinks Cons: I don't know that there are any. more

Happening Place 2/3/2009

The food is good and very reasonably priced. The specials are usually over the top. It's a small place so you might have to wait at times for a table. It's trendy and full of life at nights. It turns into a bar atmosphere after 10 pm or so. DJ?s on some nights. They don't have a patio, but have a large window (glass garage door) that opens which gives that outdoor feel if you are in the bar area. It can be very romantic or a great place to go with friends. Clientele is probably 99% gay and most are under 40. Older people who have a problem with the gay scene would probably be uncomfortable here. Pros: Nice Location and Full of life Cons: Parking more

Absolutely Amazing! 9/10/2008

We love this place. The Best part of the experience was to get seated by the huge garage window. Open Air...Great...The worst part was they were out of Lamb tenderloin which we had several times before and actually that was why we were there for this time. I decided to go for Lam burger and my wife had Tenderloin Kebob. They both were absolutely amazing. We were offered small salad for 2.29 and we had Turkish and Caprice Salad. Turkish salad was great and I did not care for the Caprice Salad but my wife loved it. There is great wine list and Martini list but we went for their Guava and Mango Mojito. The server said that they make the syrup in the house and they were quite nice. Everyone around us seemed to enjoy their experience as well. One thing about this place is it is very intimate and you get to talk to other people. Very neighborhood kind of feeling. Well ,the service was also exceptional. We eat out a lot and we lived in Greece for nine years experiencing Mediterranean cuisine all around Europe. We defiantly recommend Gilberts to everybody. Pros: Great Food, Service more

Not authentic, bad service 9/5/2008

Unless you are going to get drinks, this isn't really the place to get a decent Mediterranean cuisine. Nice hangout, other than that, nothing spectacular. more

Excellent! 1/11/2008

Took an out of town guest to this place and she really enjoyed it. Service was prompt, professional and personable... no attitude or rushing. The food was great as I ordered the salmon, mushroom soup and a tiramisu martini. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their food as well. The ambiance is very eclectic but blends well with the area... nothing too gaudy or too cheapy. Pros: Great food, great service, laid-back atmosphere Cons: A little pricey ($9 for a specialty martini), but worth it more

Mmm...Hummus? 9/20/2007

The food was wonderful and the service was also very good. I think there was a birthday party of some sort going on at the bar while we were there but it wasn't distracting. I liked the level of lighting and all the members of my group seemed to enjoy their dishes as well. Even started a random conversation with the two guys next to us....they seemed to like their food too! Pros: Food, location, atmosphere Cons: A little small more

not your average sunday dinner!! 8/20/2007

We tried Gilberts last sunday night, not realizing it was karoke night!!! very loud, but very good!!! there was one guy dancing around the tables to michael jackson, and another guy belting out a soprano ballad! it sounds strange, but was actually a lot of fun. the food was pretty good, though the tables were tight---just enough room for our 2 plates and nothing more. The service at Gilberts was very attentive. we got our meals quickly, and the waitress was pleasant. my favorite was the pear fennel salad----delicious!! be warned though, if you are not ""open"" to alternative lifestyles, you may want to dine elsewhere. Pros: Fun people, great kareoke Cons: very small more

Very comfortable and the food is great with reasonable prices 7/16/2007

i like this place for the great food and reasonable prices. my favorites: zorba sampler platter, almond tilapia, lamb tenderloin and baklava. lately we started hanging out after dinner and discovered that place becomes a major bar/club scene after dinner. great scene with mixed crowd, diverse crowd. it gets really crazy on sundays after 5pm or so with karaoke, great singers (not me) and great energy! i would recommend this place because you feel that you are appreciated. Oh the music is really classy too. Pros: Great value, great food and ambiance, nice late night bar scene more

It was good, but doesn't live up to the hype 2/14/2007

The service was good. The server was courteous and prompt to help. The decoration really helped the ambience. The food was good and very affordable. I had one of the best panini ever and I liked the humus. I had to wait quite a bit for our food, even though there were very few people in the place. The ambience was broken because of the loud conversation among the waiters as well. The place is perfect for a friends gathering but maybe a bit too loud for a romantic dinner. Pros: Great food, great prize, nice ambience Cons: Place can get loud more
