I am all for new restaurants with fresh new menus and great interior architecture (the large window with its view of Miami Avenue is a simple but perfect feature for a restaurant). Gigi is one of these new places.\r
The concept is excellent! The space is welcoming, the flavors are very interesting, and the orange/honey beer local to Florida is interesting as well. Some say that the portions are too small, but that is all relative if one is used to massive servings.\r
The problem with this restaurant is that it is so cool, it is letting it go to its head. For example, bad planning locates the trash right by the rear entrance from the parking. In a bad day, the fly infestation is so bad, they even invade the interior of the restaurant, which, mind you, has an open kitchen. They will turn down a customer on a weekend just because they get to the door 15 minutes too early. And now, with Art Miami, they will demand payment for parking to prevent others from using their parking lot, even if parking to eat in the restaurant. I've had great lunches with my kids, with clients, and alone with my wife, but I am done with the disappointment of having to leave without eating.\r
Good places turn bad very easily when they become full of themselves. That's what has happened to Gigi.
