We are a small business & we have been doing business with them since 2006 (unfortunately). For a collection agency, they have barely collected anything from our clients (have sent over $16,000 worth of collections). Secondly, we magically don't get a monthly statement from them w/ payments from clients, and when we call to ask for it...they tell me they will charge us for it & WE should keep better records....and that definately pissed me off! I am the most organized person I know (a little OCD), and I have EVERY invoice / statement ever sent to us since 2006. Well, come to find out, the missing invoices were invoices w/ payments made from clients & we never received the check of payment! So my advice to companies: DO NOT USE GEORGE BROWN ASSOCIATES!!! They are rude, incapable of doing their job, & apparently up to no good! more

""WOW"" HOW RUDE 3/14/2012

I called George Brown because I have a collection on my credit report and I wanted to get it settled. I ask if I could speak to someone about the bill. I asked her was the insurance filed because it was a very large medical bill. She said she was not sure. Than she proceeds to say what are you going to do about it. I said I plan to pay it. She says in a sarcastic way THIS YEAR!! At this time I was very caught off guard because of her tone. So I said back I called you ??? Yes I will and planned on it.. She than said I know what you are going to do NOTHING.... I than say I am not going to entertain this conversation with you I have the info I need. She said sure your not... I said Good Bye.. I have never been so mad on a phone conversation and I wanted to come thru the phone on her rude arrogant unprofessional &$*^%. more

The person was so nice they set me up on a payment where i just have to call once a month and they even chatted about our home state sports ... No one wants a call from a collections company! However, the representative that did call after my husband had a heart attack (and no insurance), hince the reason we couldn't pay the hospital, was actually very kind and understanding. She was even helpfull in getting everything straight once his medicaid was approved. She always genuinely asked about his health and our family. AND the point is, we did owe the money to the hospital! Anyway, Thanks Kat! more

I have worked with the excellent team at GBA. I love their approach. This is one of the best collection agencies in Charlotte. This collection agency is located in Charlotte, NC but they work for clients nationally and collect past due bills nationally. They have the talent, team, tools and experience to find solutions. It is one thing to be nice and considerate of people's situations..... yet when a new billing service comes along and does not follow the arrangements and sends of someone's unpaid bill to a chickenshit debt collector like GB & A..... who calls you up on a Sunday Morning at 10AM and starts threatening you over the phone..... it truly shows you how much of an Arse these people & this company is! For someone like me who had an arrangement with my Doctor, who knew/knows I was hurt & disabled a waiting for my disability hearing & WC settlement...... my Doctor had no problem waiting on my situation... then to have this company call me up and threaten me a second time, and then tell me I owe money from the first time I ever saw my doctor and it was near $800 dollars... I was apalled at the claim.... my bills did not even start going unpaid until nearly a year after the claimed date..... then the beoch proceeds to threaten me again and tell me I have until the end of the month to pay this bill....... but the stupid beoch doesn't understand that any & all of my medical bills outstanding have been ruled retroactive and covered by medicaid via a Federal Judge in Charlotte and the follow up I received Tuesday from the SSA confirmed it ..... more

Their p.s. about some people not paying their bills reflects their kind of limited thinking. These people are head hunter debt collectors, they then use the incomplete information provided to them, which 90% of the time is the reason why the debt couldn't be collect in the first place, to harass people until the find the person they are looking for. Pros: --- Cons: Incompetent more

Rude & disrespectful 7/17/2008

I have been harassed by an Anthony at this so called company.. He is one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to. He called my house & all but accused my 82 yr old mother- in- law of lying to him. I don't owe these people a dime. He has called me at work and tried to pick a fight with me instead of listening to me. I paid $4000.00 before a surgery. That was my maximum out of pocket due. The insurance is in charge of the rest. I have complete documentation of this & they could care less. Then I received 2 letters in the mail, the same day from them. One was about the bill I just spoke of & then one was about another woman's bill with a similar name with my address on it. Maybe they should look into the clients information before assuming things that aren't true. If you are a company looking for a collections agency, I would think twice before using them. If I did owe them anything, it definitely would not be one of my top priorities, just because of the way I have been harassed. It seems that everyone that has written a review agrees with me. Aweful experience 9/12/2007

Very unreasonable people. My experience was that Linda didn't listen to my concerns and seemed to not have time to deal with me. Very rude, interrupting me and seemed to have a judgemental opinion about people who don't pay their bills. My one telephone conversation with her to try to set up a payment arrangement was a horrible experience. I wasn't given a chance to pay my bill with dignity. This company does not make it easy for honest people to try to pay off their debt, and treats you as if you're unworthy of any respect. I was completely mortified, and pushed this debt to the LAST of my list to pay off! Thank goodness it's paid off now, but I feel sorry for anyone who still has to deal with them. If it weren't for my wonderful obgyn that I love, I would also switch doctors' offices for choosing such a horrible company to work with. more

I was calling for some information about their services to collect on accounts for a local business. The person that answered the phone had a horrendous attitude. She spoke to me like I was dirt.
