I have been getting my hair cut and colored at the Split End Salons for years. Pros: Clean Environment Cons: Overpriced, Disorganized Staff

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/30/2013

I had signed up for a spa membership with a contract for 6 months. I've noticed a rapid decline in customer service (unfriendly schedulers) the cleanliness of the spa facility and it's hit and miss on the spa and hair service - not all practitioners are qualified to be working in a supposedly high end salon/spa. I had my final visit on my membership contract this week and was shocked by how dirty it was. The bathroom toilet had fecal matter still in the bowl, and no toilet paper! The changing area laundry bin was overflowing with used/dirty robes and the treatment room table had a stained cover. The facialist who did my facial this time (my regular facialist was not available) was nice but not qualified - the facial was on par with a bad beauty school facial. I've had a bad hair cut at the Lynnwood salon as well that needed to be fixed within a week. I'm done with Gene Juarez! more

Not as good as they think! 2/16/2011

I agree with several of the previous posts. Gene Juarez is not as good as they think they are. The staff appears to have an attitude that they are better than most and are so much above their clients that they are demeaning to clients. I have not gone there for years now because of this. more

I had an awesome experience at Gene Juarez at Alderwood Mall 1/23/2010

From the time I walked, I greeted, asked if I would anything to drink and given a wrap to change into. My hairdresser, Denise was very prompt. I was looking for a new cut and look.. She was amazing! She seemed to know exactly what would work for me, not being one that wants to spend to much time on my hair. The cut is great and falls into place by itself! I LOVE it. Thanks Denise! Pros: At the mall, so plenty of parking Cons: Very expensive! more

Disorganized & Overpriced 8/4/2008

I have been getting my hair cut and colored at the Split End Salons for years. Pros: Clean Environment Cons: Overpriced, Disorganized Staff more

Service with a shrug 4/30/2008

I went to get a brow wax and was left waiting for 15 minutes past my appointment time. When my person finally came to get me, she explained that it had been really slow that day so she had been eating candy in the break room with her friends. Not very professional. It seems if you are late for an appointment, you apologize and leave out the details of lounging around. My eyebrows turned out fine but I hate to pay good money when someone can't really be bothered to treat me with a tiny bit of respect. Pros: Lovely ambience Cons: Professionalism more

Not worth it! Overrated! 2/20/2008

Gene Juarez's look is very deceiving. With the high ceilings, the hustle and bustle of people, staff members in black, and their expensive hair products, I was conned. Not once, not twice, on 3 separate occasions. The first time I went, I saw an entry priced stylist. No matter how cheap the cut was, it wasn?t worth it. I have long thick hair. They thinned my hair out so much with these stupid shears; it looked like I had fine course hair. I am used to going to high end salons where they texturize your hair manually with their shears, rather than what I call ?cheating scissors.? This contraption was supposed to do the job other stylist do by hand! What a mistake! The layers were uneven, the texture was unmanageable, everything about it was just wrong. Pros: Good Hair Products Cons: Everything else more

They think they are much better than they really are. 1/17/2008

I have been on the hunt for a new stylist for a while now. As Gene Juarez in the Alderwood mall is close, I have been there twice. Both times the colorist didn?t listen to me when I explained that while my hair is fine, it grabs up color. When I asked them to let me pick from color swatches they just assured me that they knew the right color for me. more

I would rather go used car shopping 3/27/2007

The first time I went to Gene Juarez was for a brow wax with my boyfriend. We had difference girls and the job was mediocre at best. Pros: Parking is always easy Cons: Everything but the parking more

Color and Cut 7/16/2006

On short notice, I was able to get an appointment with Rikki and Jillian for a color and cut. They took great care of me and gave me exactly what I wanted. I would recommend them highly for their skills, personality and a great overall experience. more

After Reading These Reviews, 10/1/2005

I was not that excited about using my $75 gift certificate. I was very pleased with the service and helpful attitudes at the Alderwood Mall Gene Juarez. Denise cut my hair, and she did a great job, it's the best haircut I've had in years. I didn't detect snobbishness from anyone. I also got there about 20 minutes early, and only had to wait a couple of minutes before getting my hair cut. I think many of these review are outdated. My experience was very positive. Pros: no wait, friendly, talented stylists more

save your money - not worth the hype 8/17/2005

All Gene Juarez has is hype, not great stylists making your hair look fantastic, all hype nothing else. There are tons of better salons in Seattle, don't bother going here. more

Great Salon... 9/6/2003

My first experience with Gene Juarez at first, wasn't great. The person I went to did a terrible, I mean terrible job coloring my hair. But then I went right after that to get my hair cut, and the person cutting my hair arranged for the best colorist to come over right then and there and redo my coloring for free. I was so thankful for this, that I've been going to them ever since. All of their staff are great people. They always listen to what you want and don't try to talk you into something you're uncomfortable with. I would strongly suggest if you want your hair done right, go to Gene Juarez. It's a little pricey, but worth it. Pros: Friendly, Helpful, Skilled Cons: Expensive more
