RENTING W/ GARRY LEWIS PROPERTIES WAS A LIVING HELL! I RENTED AT TIGER BEND. PROBLEM #1- ON OUR WALK THROUGH WE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE STAIRS AND 2ND FLOOR CARPET SMELLING OF URINE....

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! 4/25/2009

RENTING W/ GARRY LEWIS PROPERTIES WAS A LIVING HELL! I RENTED AT TIGER BEND. PROBLEM #1- ON OUR WALK THROUGH WE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE STAIRS AND 2ND FLOOR CARPET SMELLING OF URINE. SO THEY REPLACED THE LIVING ROOM CARPET DOWN STAIRS, WHICH MADE NO SENSE AT ALL! WE COMPLAINED EVERY MONTH FOR A YEAR UNTIL OUR LEASE WAS UP ABOUT THE SMELL AND IT WAS NEVER CLEANED OR REPLACED. IT WAS A VERY VERY STRONG SMELL WHICH ANYONE COULD SMELL WHEN YOU WALKED IN THE FRONT DOOR! PROBLEM #2- THE FIRST WEEKEND WE MOVED ALL OF THE TOILETS IN THE COMPLEX OVER-FLOWED. SEWAGE CAME ALL THE WAY OUT INTO OUR LIVING ROOM (THE NEW CARPET) AND THEY HAD SOME ONE COME OUT TO PICK THE WATER UP OUT OF THE CARPET WITH A MACHINE THAT NIGHT BUT NOT CLEAN IT. MY ROOMMATE AND I COMPLAINED TO THE COMPANY FOR 3 WEEKS BEFORE SOME ONE FINALLY CAME TO CLEAN IT. IT SMELT HORRIBLE, STAYED DAMP, AND IT WAS IN THE BRAND NEW CARPET WHICH THEY HAD PUT IN RIGHT BEFORE WE MOVED IN. PROBLEM #3- PEST CONTROL, WE HAD B UGS IN THE BATH TUB EVERY WEEK, AND ALSO SOME DOWN STAIRS BY THE CLOSET. WE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS NOT INCLUDED. PROBLEM #4- OUR A/C DID NOT BLO W COOL AIR. WE COMPLAINED AT LEAST 15 TIMES ABOUT THIS. OUR APT. WAS ALWAYS HOT, AND THE THERMOSTAT WOULD BE SET FOR 72DEGREES AND IT WOULD SAY IT WAS USUALLY BETWEEN 80-95 DEGREES! IT WAS UNBEARABLE! GARRY LEWIS PROP. TOLD US IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE, BUT THE NEIGHBORS APTS. WERE NEVER THAT HOT! OUR ELECTRIC BILLS FOR A 2BR APT WAS NEVER UNDER $200, AND FOR A FEW MONTHS THEY WERE OVER $300 AND ON TOP OF THAT IT WAS NEVER COOL INSIDE. FINALLY IN AUGUST (2 1/2 MTHS BEFORE OUR LEASE WAS UP) THE A/C UNIT WENT OUT ALL TOGETHER AND THEY BROUGHT US A WINDOW UNIT TO COOL OFF THE ENTIRE APT!!!! PROBLEM #5- THE MAINTENANCE STAFF IS VERY RUDE, LAZY, AND NOT RELIABLE! PROBLEM #6- THERE IS ALWAYS DOG POO IN FRONT OF YOUR DOOR, AND THE SIDEWALKS & PARKING LOT ALWAYS FLOOD EVEN IF ITS NOT RAINING ALOT. PROBLEM #7- THERE WAS ALWAYS JUNK OUTSIDE OF THE DUMPSTER AND BEHIND THE APTS. ITEMS WOULD RANGE FROM OLD WASHING MACHINES, DRYERS, MATTRESSES, COUCHES, CHAIRS! PROBLEM #8- THE SEAL AROUND OUR REFRIGERATOR WAS BAD AND HANGING OFF, WHICH RESULTED IN THE INSIDE OF THE FRIDGE TO GROW MOLD! WE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT ONCE AGAIN THEY TOOK 2 WEEKS TO COME OUT, AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM! PROBLEM #9- THE APPLIANCES WERE ANCIENT! THE OVEN DID NOT WORK RIGHT ALL OF THE TIME, SOMETIMES IT WOULD OVER HEAT AND BURN THINGS, IT WAS LIKE THE TEMPERATURE SETTING WAS NOT RIGHT, THE DISHWASHER DID NOT CLEAN RIGHT, IT HAD RUST ALL IN THE BOTTOM OF IT AND WOULD LEAVE LITTLE SPECS OF RUST ALL OVER THE DISHES. IT ALSO HAD A HUGE DENT LIKE SOME ONE HAD KICKED IT IN AND IT STUCK OUT FAR FROM THE COUNTER TOP. PROBLEM #10- FOUR MTHS AFTER MOVING IN WE GET A CALL TELLING US THAT WE WILL BE EVICTED DUE TO A HIGH BALANCE ON OUR ACCT. THEY TELL US ITS FOR 4 MTHS OF WATER, SEWAGE, AND GARBAGE. WHEN WE SIGNED OUR LEASE WE WERE NOT TOLD, NOR WAS IT WRITTEN IN OUR LEASE ABOUT A $40 MTHLY CHARGE FOR THIS. ALL THEY COULD SAY WAS SORRY WE WERE NOT TOLD ABOUT THIS BUT WE HAD TO PAY IT EVEN THOUGH ITS NOT WRITTEN IN OUR LEASE! FINALLY THEY TOOK THE CHARGES OFF OUR ACCT BUT WE HAD TO AGREE TO PAY THE $40 EVERY MONTH FROM THEN ON IN ORDER TO NOT BE EVICTED BY MONDAY! I WOULD NEVER, EVER RENT FROM GARRY LEWIS PROPERTIES AGAIN! THEY EVEN TOOK OUT $25 FOR ""CLEANING FEES"" FROM OUR DEPOSIT, EVEN THOUGH WE HAD THE CARPET CLEANED ( WHICH WAS NEVER CLEAN IN THE 1ST PLACE) AND THE APT WAS LEFT CLEANER THAN WHEN WE MOVED IN! I CAN NOT BELIEVE THEY HAD THE NERVE TO TAKE $25 OUT AFTER ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WE HAD WITH THEM! THEY HAVE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ARE NOT RELIABLE. THEY ARE ONLY ABOUT MAKING MONEY AND NOT ABOUT PLEASING THE PAYING TENANTS! THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU RENT W/ THIS COMPANY! Cons: PEST CONTROL, CUSTOMER SERVICE, A/C, ECT. more
